KEAM 2023 Rank Calculation

The KEAM 2023 rank list is prepared by considering both the board exam marks and the scores obtained in the KEAM entrance examination. Both these scores hold an equal weightage of 50% in the final rank calculation.

How is the KEAM 2023 Rank calculated?

  1. Raw Score Calculation: First, the raw scores of the candidates are calculated by considering the total marks obtained in the KEAM examination. Each correct answer is awarded four marks, while one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
  2. Normalization: KEAM follows the process of normalization to ensure fairness in ranking. Since the examination is conducted in multiple sessions, the normalization process adjusts the scores of candidates across different sessions to account for any variations in the difficulty level of the question papers.
  3. Weightage Calculation: For engineering courses, the KEAM rank is determined by giving equal weightage to the normalized scores of the candidates in Paper I (Physics and Chemistry) and Paper-II (Mathematics). The total score is calculated by adding the normalized marks of these two papers.
  4. Rank List Preparation: The rank list is prepared based on the total score obtained by the candidates in KEAM. Candidates with higher scores are given better ranks. In case of a tie, tie-breaking rules are applied to determine the final rank. The tie-breaking rules consider factors such as age, marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and the number of incorrect answers.
