FAQs

Is MBA admission possible with less than 90 percentile in CMAT?

Applicants with CMAT percentiles between 80 and 90 may be accepted by some of India's top MBA schools. If your score falls within this percentile range, you will have a good chance of enrolling in MBA programs in 2023 that will accept CMAT scores between 80 and 90. Among them are the Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), Institute of Management Technology (IMT), ITM Business School, Navi Mumbai, Institute of Management, Christ University (IMCU), Indus Business Academy (IBA), and numerous others.

Is revaluation of CMAT results allowed?

No, the CMAT exam conducting bodies do not permit the re-evaluation or re-verification of CMAT test scores or results. After the exam results are declared, the CMAT exam authorities do not permit the rechecking or reevaluation of the answer sheets under any circumstances. The candidates' scores listed on the scorecard are final and admissions will be granted based on these scores. A candidate must retake the CMAT exam in the next academic session if they wish to raise their CMAT score.

Are there sectional cutoff requirements for admission through CMAT?

The selection standards implemented by CMAT participating institutes may or may not take into account sectional CMAT cutoffs. The scorecard, which includes sectional scores and percentiles, can be used by candidates to apply to schools where the cutoff is the same as or lower than their score. A 100 percentile on the CMAT is typically awarded to the applicant who scored the highest. The percentile score is nevertheless also influenced by sectional scores and percentiles. So, it is possible for candidates to have the same overall percentile despite receiving different scores.

How many colleges accept CMAT scores for MBA admission?

For MBA/PGDM admission in India, the CMAT score will be accepted by more than 1000 AICTE-approved B-Schools, including numerous prestigious management schools like GIM Goa, K J Somaiya, Great Lakes, IMT Nagpur, BIMTECH, and JIMS. The applicant pool for admission is reduced by these colleges based on CMAT scores. For admission, more than 1,300 MBA programs in India accept the CMAT.

Do all the CMAT participating colleges have a common selection process?

NTA does not have a centralized counseling process for admission based on CMAT scores. The colleges that accept the CMAT hold group discussions and individual interviews on their own schedules. Depending on the admission requirements used at that specific institute, the majority of institutions accepting CMAT scores conduct group discussions and individual interviews for admission. Even the CMAT participation cutoff requirements are announced separately. Therefore, before submitting an application for admission, candidates must check the required cutoff percentile on the website of their preferred institute.

How to prepare for the GD/ PI and EW rounds conducted during the CMAT selection process?

As the candidate's performance in this round will determine whether or not they are selected for admission, attendance at the GD/PI round is required. A person will not be admitted if they do not show up for the GD/PI round. To excel during the counseling rounds of the institute they are targeting, candidates must be well-prepared. Some of the most crucial steps candidates must take to get ready for the CMAT counseling rounds include learning the relevant subject matter, adhering to current trends and patterns used during GD/PI rounds, and developing time management skills.

What factors determine the CMAT cutoff?

The CMAT cutoff is released separately for all participating institutions that accept CMAT scores for admission. The CMAT cutoff is influenced by several factors. The following criteria will be used by the participating institutes in CMAT 2023 when releasing the cutoff:

  • Total Number of Candidates who appeared for CMAT
  • The difficulty level of the CMAT question paper
  • Total Number of Seats available in the particular college or university
  • Number of candidates who meet the minimum qualifying CMAT cutoff

What rounds are conducted during the CMAT selection process?

For MBA/PGDM admission, more than 1,300 B-Schools in India accept CMAT scores. Group Discussions (GD) and individual Personal Interviews (PI), both of which are conducted by B-Schools, are part of the CMAT counseling or admission process. Based on their scores, the CMAT accepting colleges select a small group of applicants for the GD-PI round. It should be noted that participating institutions' admission requirements and selection procedures for the CMAT are publicized by them during the admissions season. Candidates who pass the CMAT exam must submit separate applications and take part in the admissions processes of each institute of their choosing.

What happens after the CMAT result declaration?

Candidates can submit an application for admission to MBA programs offered by colleges accepting CMAT scores after the CMAT result declaration. The candidates must submit separate applications to each institute because there is no centralized counseling for CMAT. Group discussions (GD) and personal interviews (PI) are typically used by MBA schools that accept the CMAT score to narrow down their application pool. Candidates who pass the CMAT exam can submit an application for admission to MBA programs at participating institutes of their choice based on their CMAT percentile and rank.
