NEST 2025 Percentile Score Calculation

Exam officials are expected to use the following procedure to calculate the NEST 2025 percentile. The percentile score will be calculated as follows for the NISER and CEBS merit lists:

  • On the same day, there were two NEST 2025 exam sessions: one in the morning from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and one in the evening from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • The percentile score will be calculated based on the relative performance of all qualified candidates in each NEST 2025 session
  • Each session's highest score will be the 100th percentile.

The final merit list for NISER and CEBS will be based on the Minimum Admissible Percentile (MAP) and Section-wise Minimum Admissible Score (SMAS), which are as follows:

Merit List Parameters

Selection Criteria

SMAS

  • A candidate's total score equals the sum of his scores in the General section plus his scores in the 'best three' subjects
  • The SMAS for each section will be '20% of the average of the best 100 scores in the section'
  • The numerical value of SMAS varies depending on the section
  • To be eligible for the NISER and CEBS merit lists, candidates must meet SMAS
  • SMAS in the OBC category would be 90% of SMAS in the General category
  • SMAS for SC/ST/Divyangjan would be half of SMAS for the General category

MAP

MAP is used in addition to SMAS, and candidates from each category must score equal to or higher to be placed on the merit list.

The MAP determined for each category is as follows:

General category - 95% in NEST 2025 OBC category - 90% in NEST 2025 SC/ ST/ Divyangjan - 75% in NEST 2025 MAP for NEST 2025 will be updated after the result is declared.
