The mode of selection or selection for the award of UGC NET E-Certificate is as follows -
- Only top 6% of candidates who cleared UGC NET shall be declared eligible for the award of E-Certificate.
- Only 6% of slots are available for the eligibility of Assistant Process, and the reservation policies are applied for the distribution of slots. EWS is the new inclusion in the reservation policy, and the slot allocation shall be done equally for all categories.
The selection process of UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the University Grants Commission. The NTA is responsible for organizing and administering the examination, including the application process, conducting the test, and declaring the results.
The minimum qualifying mark in UGC NET for the General category is determined by considering two factors: the aggregate score and the subject-wise score. The number of slots available for Assistant Professor in UGC NET is not fixed or predetermined. The UGC NET examination is conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The number of candidates qualifying for Assistant Professorship varies based on the performance and merit of the applicants in the exam. However, for previous year, the slot was 6%.
The UGC NET e-certificate holds a lifelong validity for the qualified candidates. Once a candidate successfully clears the UGC NET examination and receives the e-certificate, it remains valid indefinitely. This e-certificate serves as proof of eligibility for various academic and research positions in universities, colleges, and other educational institutions across India.
