MHRD Unveils Second Edition of Teachers Training Programmes

MHRD has come up with the second edition of teachers training programs the Leadership for Academics Programme (LEAP) 2019 and the Annual Refresher Programme In Teaching (ARPIT) 2019.

NISHTHA Scheme for Teachers Training

HRD Ministry has launched the 2019 edition of the two national teachers training programmes the Leadership for Academics Programme (LEAP) 2019 and the Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) 2019. The teacher training programmes were launched by HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank on 16th September 2019.

HRD Ministry LEAP 2019 is a three-week leadership development training programme which will include two weeks of domestic training and one-week foreign training for second-level academics in 15 premier higher education institutions.

These include five IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi University, and others. The last date of registration is September 25 and the institution-wise selections will be finalised by September 27, 2019.

The Minister of HRD, Mr Ramesh Pokhrial Nishank has said in an event that Indian Teachers were considered as ‘Vishwa Gurus’ for thousands of years. He added that India is popular traditionally for teacher preparation and leadership in education.

In his speech, he informed that there are legendary achievements of the ancient Indian education system, he said while adding that schools are the foundation of a progressive nation, said that teachers were the power-house of the Indian society, who moulded and formed the future of students for becoming productive citizens of future.

Ms Rina Ray further informed that as many as 19,000 teachers training centres are assigned and mapped with Google Earth.She further noted that users can go online for not only locating the institute geographically but they can also put up reviews and quality check opinions of them online for the assistance of more people.

On the event, the director of NITI Ayog, Mr Yaduvendra Mathur was also present. He, hailing teacher as the pillars of the society has said that it is important to upgrade the skills of the teachers and ensure their best training. This is only possible collaborating with teacher education institutions, they play a major role in their actual transformation.

Initative like NISHTHA is a great opportunity for the teachers to enhance their skills and knowledge. This will not only upgrade their skills but will also increase their employability and will keep them informed about industry trends.
