Amity University Uttar Pradesh has been ranked amongst top 94 Indian Universities and 400 Universities of BRICS countries.
QS Universities Rankings: BRICS was developed to track the relative progress of leading universities in BRICS countries – all of which have made investments in higher education and research. The Ranking is based on key performance indicators relating to global reputation, internationalization, academic staff levels, and research production and impact.
Unveiling “QS University Rankings: BRICS 2015” and sharing exclusive analysis of the rankings, Ashwin Fernandes- Head of Client Relations, QS Asia Quacquarelli Symonds, Singapore stressed that the number of International students have doubled in last 12 years and the purpose of QS BRICS rankings is to help these prospective students and their parents to make informed choices about the right University and the country for pursuing a particular programme. While Dr. Karthick Sridhar- Vice Chairman, Indian Centre for Academic Rankings and Excellence, India said that QS Rankings have been there for over a decade helping students to compare the world’s highest-performing universities in different world regions and in specific subject areas.
With so much of information around, students need to have fair, non-commercial, transparent and independent source of information, which is being provided by QS rankings since 2003. He shared that BRICS rankings help the countries benchmark themselves with similar economies. Dwelling on BRICS rankings 2015, he highlighted that while all five BRICS countries are represented within the top 20, China’s dominance is clear throughout the ranking.
Driven by strong performance in the two global reputational surveys of academics and employers, Chinese universities take seven of the top 10 spots and almost half of the top 50. Talking about Indian Universities, he remarked that only 1 Indian Educational Institute features in Top 10, 5 in Top 20, 9 in top 50, 15 in top 100 and 31 in Top 200. Dr W Selvamurthy- President, Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation (ASTIF), Amity University thanked QS for extending wholehearted support for improving the quality of Higher Education in India. Dr. B Shukla- Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that Amity University has been participating every year in BRICS Rankings since Amity is very pro-active in benchmarking itself with the best of Institutions across the world.
She remarked that it is very important to participate in International Rankings to identify where an Institution stands internationally and how it could improvise by filling up the gaps steadily and continuously.
