Our Take:
Amity University Gurgaon has jumped places as compared to the previous year in terms of ranking. Such progression indicates that the university has improved across all NIRF parameters- Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR) Research and Professional Practice (RP) Outreach and Inclusivity (OI). One initiative that justifies the university’s contribution towards innovation is its collaborative creation of a television studio in partnership with NDTV.

Our Take:
In spite of its recognition of being India's one and the only and Asia's 2nd university to receive Platinum Certification by LEED (USA), the total student count is much less at only 5119 compared to its sister campuses. Students have also affirmed the same. The students keep complaining that the fee charged is also high and is not reasonable, especially for those in the lower economic strata.

Hostels
According to the official website of Amity University Gurgaon, the university can accommodate 2100 students with separate accommodation facilities for girls and boys. Known as ‘Amity Residences’, each apartment includes 3 single rooms with attached bathrooms and a sitting lounge. The other hostel facilities that the university claims to offer are biometric readers, IP cameras, fire warning systems, 24-hour guards and patrolling units.
The hostel fees charged are:
Accommodation Type | Fee (per year) | Refundable Security Deposit |
Non-AC | INR 74,000 | INR 10,000 |
AC | INR 1,10,000 | INR 10,000 |
Our Take:
Despite the university’s effort to provide the best accommodation facilities, students have said that the facilities do not meet the expected standards, and the quality of food is subpar.
Cafes/Hang-outs
Besides an on-campus cafeteria, there are food courts like Dosa Plaza, Cook House, and Café Coffee Day available for students.
Commute
The university claims to offer transportation facilities to its students. However, the transportation service leaves much to be desired.!
Our Take:
Students have expressed that the buses are in poor condition and often break down during the journey, which poses a safety concern, particularly for female students. Lack of consistent buses, designated bus stops, and reliable bus drivers are few other concerns. Moreover, the fare of INR 55,000 charged for such a commute is unreasonable.
Amity University Gurgaon Placements
According to the official records, out of 423 companies that visited the campus, 132 were Fortune 500+ MNCs and the remaining were national corporations. When asked the students about the placement scenario, they were of the opinion that the placements at Amity Gurgaon are pretty decent. Let’s have a glance at the Amity University Gurgaon placement for 2022 as shared in the NIRF Report 2023:
Engineering
Course Duration | Students Graduated | Students Placed | Median Salary (in INR) | Opted for Higher Studies |
UG 4-Year | 144 | 109 | 5,50,000 | 21 |
PG 2-Year | 162 | 91 | 4,20,000 | 15 |
PG Integrated 5-Year | 5 | 5 | 5,50,000 | 0 |
Our Take: With a 100% placement percentage for the PG integrated programme and 88.6% for the UG 4-year programme, the placement scenario is good. However, in the case of the two-year PG programme, there is a lot of room for improvement given the placement percentage of 61.9%.
Law|Course Duration: 5 Years
Students Graduated | Students Placed | Median Salary (in INR) | Opted for Higher Studies |
69 | 57 | 2,70,000 | 8 |
Our Take: Against the average total fee of around INR 25,70,000 for BA LLB (Hons), B.Com LLB (Hons), and BBA LLB (Hons), the ROI is very low at only 8.5%. It is apparent that the university must take immediate action considering the growing demand for such courses.
Management|Course Duration: 5 Years
Students Graduated | Students Placed | Median Salary (in INR) | Opted for Higher Studies |
60 | 47 | 4,80,000 | 6 |
Our Take: For management, the placement percentage is fairly decent at 87%.
Amity University Gurgaon Diversity and Demographics
Amity University Gurgaon claims to have a diverse student population PAN India and across 15 countries. Also, as per the NIRF 2023 Report, the male-to-female ratio stands favourable with a 48% female population. Moreover, it's observed that students from outside Haryana have a more significant preference for the university compared to local students, constituting 59% of the student body.
It is evident that the university has taken its anti-ragging policy earnestly, given that no news surfaced since the incident in 2012 where 400 students protested against the university after a female student unalived herself. However, few students have claimed that security personnel at times do resort to tactless acts which go unnoticed.

Amity University Gurgaon Faculty and Administration/Management
Faculty-wise, Amity University Gurgaon claims to have some of the talented and dedicated thought leaders providing the necessary guidance to its students. Gladly, the statement holds true taking into consideration the majority of student's feedback. Having said that, we could not ignore a comment where a student expressed that compromise in individual guidance can be seen at a certain level. Again, we believe it depends on the student’s dedication and effort in the classroom.
As per NIRF Report 2023, the total faculty count stands at 343, with a satisfactory overall faculty-to-student ratio of 15:1. What holds more importance is the faculty-to-student ratio per batch. As no such data is available, here is the department-wise faculty-to-student ratio for some of its departments retrieved from NIRF data:
- With a total of 125 students and 18 faculty members in the management department, the faculty-to-student ratio is only 6:1
- In the case of the law department, the total faculty count is 45. Having said that, the faculty-to-student ratio is 13:1, which is pretty decent.
- For the engineering department, the faculty-to-student ratio stands at 8:1 with 114 faculty offering education to 933 students.
While the university management does everything on its part to help the students from their admission to graduation, students have commented that the management staff often resorts to rude and ignorant attitudes, particularly when requesting refunds and Amity University Gurgaon admission withdrawals. The biometric attendance system has also caused stress among students, one evident reason being commute-related issues.
Our Take:
Looking at the faculty-to-student ratio it can be inferred that the student headcount is noticeably less compared to the other Amity campuses. Also, many students expressed that seats remain unfilled in a few departments. One reason that can justify the low numbers is the university’s location and a comparatively newer campus.
Amity University Gurgaon Location
Nestled in Pachgaon, near Manesar in Haryana, the university is at a distance of 41 km from Indira Gandhi International Airport. At a distance of 30 km from the university campus is the Gurgaon Railway Station. Even though the campus looks ravishing, students, especially females, do not feel safe outside the university area. As per feedback received from the students, the roads leading to the campus are in a terrible state.
Our Take:
Students travelling by public transport find the journey time-consuming and wearisome. According to them, the most convenient way to reach Amity University Gurugram from the nearest metro station, IFFCO Chowk, is to take a bus to Panchgaon and then switch to an auto-rickshaw which again tends to be expensive. Finding cabs or bikes in the area has also been extremely challenging with no proper return conveyance options available.
Amity University Gurgaon: Expectation vs Reality- CollegeDekho Verdict
Carrying the weight of being one of the highly-demanded universities in India, Amity University Gurgaon has been successful in providing the requisite facilities to its students. The faculty are well-versed in their respective domains. The placement statistics are good, however, departments like law need improvement.
Apart from the attendance policy and the fees, another significant challenge for students is the university's geographical location. A female student commented that travelling to the university every day was a Herculean task. Eventually, she had no choice but to drop out of the university. A potential solution to avoid such commotion is to opt for hostel accommodation. Regrettably, the university has not been successful in maintaining the hostel adequately, both in terms of the quality of facilities and the food services. It is evident that students have limited alternatives to escape these challenges, and the university seems to have marginalized these concerns.
