With the new education policy changing the face of the education system in India, students are left confused about a lot of things. Many are calling it a historic moment as the education policy has been changed after 34 years. One of the major changes that the plan has proposed is the conduction of a common entrance exam for admission to all colleges.

“Does this mean that no NEET or JEE from now? Are the standards of the examination for all levels the same? Would the exam pattern and syllabus change according to streams? What is the validity of the examination scores?”

If you are one of the aspirants of higher education, all of these questions must be coming to your mind right now. So let’s find out the answers to these questions, step-by-step.

What is the Common Entrance Exam for All Colleges as Per NEP?

As the name suggests, the government has proposed an entrance examination that will be applicable for admission to all colleges. This means that through the scores of this examination, aspirants will be able to apply to more than one college. NTA (National Testing Agency) has been authorised as the conducting authority of the examination. This common examination will be applicable for admission to undergraduate courses only. This comes as good news to the candidates who would have had to appear in more than one entrance exams for admission to different colleges.

Would the Exam be Made Compulsory?

The common entrance exam for all colleges or universities proposed by the government will not be made compulsory. This means that candidates will have a choice to either appear in this common entrance exam or in the alternative one.

Will the Syllabus of the Exam Vary for Different Streams?

The information about the details of this common entrance examination is yet to be cleared out. However, from what has been stated, it can be said that the exam will be like SAT (Standardised Aptitude Test) in the USA. The difficulty level or syllabus will be unaffected by the stream of courses offered.

Will the Exam Abolish Other Major Entrance Exams?

As mentioned earlier, this common entrance exam will not be made compulsory. This means that there will still be other entrance exams conducted for admissions. As per a leading news source, students will have the option to choose between the common entrance exam and other already existing exams for the intended college/s. So, this puts the idea of the abolition of already existing entrance exams out of the list.

Many things about the common entrance exam are still unclear. So, until things are uncertain, the most certain and easiest way for you to get admission to the college of your dream is to fill out our Common Application Form.
