Overview of CUCET and CUET
Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) and Central Universities Entrance Test are one and the same. CUET formerly known as Central Universities Common Entrance Test is a national-level exam conducted by Central University Rajasthan for admission to various UG, PG, and Research programmes in Central Universities of India. In the year 2021, National Testing Agency was endowed with the responsibility of conducting CUCET then. National Testing had successfully conducted CUCET for one year and then the name of the former examination has been changed to CUET. What is CUCET?
Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) was introduced in the year 2010. CUCET was conducted by the Central University of Rajasthan for aspirants seeking admission into seven Central Universities to various Undergraduate, Integrated, Postgraduate and Research Programmes. Over the course of ten years, the number of participating universities in CUCET has gradually increased from seven to twelve. CUCET was administered by the Central University of Rajasthan from its inception in 2010 to 2020. In the year 2021, National Testing Agency was entrusted with the responsibility of conducting CUCET.

What is CUET?
Central University Entrance Test (CUET) is the new version of CUCET. According to National Educational Policy 2020, CUET was introduced in the year 2022. Participation in CUET has been obligatory of all 44 Central Universities from its inception. CUET provides an equal opportunity to all candidates across the country and a common platform to seek admission into any one of the Central Universities. Common University Entrance Test is administered separately for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes with two different names as CUET UG and CUET PG. Both these exams are conducted by the National Testing Agency which was established by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

Difference between CUCET and CUET: Eligibility Criteria
There is a slight difference between CUCET and CUET in eligibility criteria:
According to CUCET eligibility criteria candidates of the general category must score scored at least 50% marks in class 12. Candidates belonging to SC and ST categories should have a minimum of 45% marks in class 12. For CUCET eligibility criteria are laid down by the conducting authority of the examination. Candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology depending upon the course candidate is applying for.
However, in CUET the eligibility criteria vary from university to university and course to course. But the minimum qualification to appear for CUET UG is class 12. The minimum aggregate to appear for CUET has not been issued by conducting the body of the examination but by participating universities. There is no age restriction. Each participating university prescribes course-specific eligibility criteria for the courses offered by them.
