Every student in India cannot help but aspire to get admission to an ideal engineering and agriculture university like GBPUAT. Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology was established in the year 1960 and was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru. GBPUAT is a symbol of India and the United States' productive relationship. The formation of this university ushered in a new era of agricultural teaching, research, and extension. It cleared the path for establishing 31 more agricultural universities across the country. Spread across a campus area of 10,000 acres, it is the second-largest university in India with a beautiful campus.

Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology has been accredited with an A grade by ICAR. The university has also been recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). The university is also home to several research centers and is known to promote research and development in Agriculture. There are a total of 2878 faculty members at GBPUAT. The number of students in the University ranges between 4200-4400. Thus, the teacher-student ratio is about 1:6 which is fair.

GBPUAT courses are offered at undergraduate, postgraduate, and masters level. These courses are available in different streams such as Engineering, Agriculture, Home Science, Veterinary Science, Fisheries, Management, etc. These courses are further divided into multiple specialisations such as Botany, Food Technology, Economics, Biophysics, etc.

However, students at several review platforms have expressed dissatisfaction vis-a-vis a few aspects. For instance, placement offered by the university is only for popular courses like Engineering and Agriculture. While, there are no placements for general courses like Home Science, Veterinary Science, etc. Also, the packages offered to students through placement are low that bothers students.

GBPUAT Academia & Batch

GBPUAT offers a wide range of undergraduate programs in agriculture, engineering, veterinary science, and other disciplines. The undergraduate programs are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the basic concepts and principles of their chosen field. GBPUAT also offers postgraduate programs in agriculture, engineering, veterinary science, and other disciplines.

Admission Process

GBPUAT admission to BTech courses will be through state online counselling conducted by Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun based on JEE Main rank. Out of the total seats, 85% seats are for Uttarakhand candidates and 15% seats are for all India seats. Admission to MBA programmes at GBPUAT is done through CAT and CMAT scores followed by group discussion and an Interview conducted by the university. Admission to MTech programmes is done through GATE and MCA programme on the basis of a separate entrance exam conducted by the university.

As per our evaluation, it's great that GBPUAT offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in agriculture, engineering, veterinary science, and other disciplines. It's also a plus point that the university has several research institutes and centers that conduct cutting-edge research in various fields of agriculture and allied sciences. This shows that GBPUAT is a comprehensive university that is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. The university's wide range of programs and research areas gives students and faculty members many opportunities to learn and grow. We are also impressed by the fact that GBPUAT has both UA domicile seats and payment seats. This makes the university accessible to students from all backgrounds, regardless of their financial situation.

Classroom: GBPUAT has spacious and well-equipped classrooms. The classrooms are equipped with modern teaching aids and technology, including projectors, smartboards, and audio-visual equipment.

Auditorium/ Seminar Halls: GBPUAT has several large auditoriums and seminar halls that are used for conducting lectures, seminars, and conferences. The auditoriums and seminar halls are well-equipped with modern audio-visual equipment.

Labs: GBPUAT has a wide range of well-equipped laboratories for conducting practical classes and research. The laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and are staffed by experienced and qualified technicians.

Library: GBPUAT has a well-stocked library with a large collection of books, journals, and other resources on myriad subjects. The library also has digital resources, such as e-books and online databases.

Internet: GBPUAT has a high-speed internet network accessible to all students and faculty members. The university also has several Wi-Fi hotspots that provide students and faculty members with access to the internet from anywhere on the campus.

Hostel: GBPUAT has separate hostels for boys and girls that can accommodate over 3000 students. The hostels are well-maintained and offer students a comfortable and supportive environment.

Cafe/ Hang-out: GBPUAT has many cafes and hang-out places where students can relax and socialize. The cafes and hang-out places offer a variety of food and drinks, as well as games and other activities.

GBPUAT Internships & Placements

GBPUAT has its placement cell which takes care of placement every year. It is responsible for bringing recruiters to the campus. It also provides training to students to ensure they are prepared for their upcoming placements. As per GBPUAT placement 2023, 546 students were placed in the UG stream and 164 students were placed in the PG stream. The average package offered to students was INR 4.5 LPA.

Our Take

As per the review of students on Quora, the GBPUAT placement is only offered to popular courses like Engineering and there is no placement for courses with low popularity. Also, as visible the salary offered to students is lower given it being one of the prominent universities in India. However, it is important to note that GBPUAT is also working to improve its placement record. The university has established a Directorate of Placement and Counselling, which provides students with support and guidance throughout the placement process. The Directorate also works with companies to attract them to the university campus and to provide students with job opportunities.
