What is a Good Score in UCEED: Achieving a good score in UCEED 2024 depends on factors like the difficulty of the exam and the number of candidates. Typically, a score between 115 and 125 in both parts I and II is considered competitive for admission into IITs. This range may change yearly depending on the exam's difficulty. Therefore, UCEED 2024 aspirants must have a solid preparation plan.

Design is a creative field, and those who possess the necessary design aptitude and the ability to innovate can succeed in the UCEED exam. This preparation will not only enhance their scores but also foster their creative growth. The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) evaluates candidates on their logical reasoning and innovative thinking skills. Participants are tested on their ability to visualize problems and devise design solutions.

The UCEED 2024 exam, conducted by IIT Bombay, took place on January 21, 2024 (Sunday). Continue reading for more information on what constitutes a good score in UCEED 2024, expected cutoff marks, and last-minute tips for improving your performance.

Good Score in UCEED 2024

Checking the previous year's UCEED 2024 cutoff is important for all the candidates who have appeared for this entrance exam and intend to get into top IITs. This will give an idea to students what kind of cutoff they can expect this year. IIT Bombay will release the cutoff score for Part A, which is also the minimum score needed for admission to the BDes course. As per the previous year's trends, a good UCEED 2024 score will be between 115 and 125 for both part A and part B.

Candidates who meet the cut-off score or qualify for Part A will have their Part B answer booklet evaluated. Also, all candidates who crack the Part A of the entrance exam will be given a merit rank and final score. It must be noted that the Part A cut-off score will vary from the admission cutoff. This also means that qualifying for Part A is not the assurance of getting into IIT Bombay or other UCEED participating institutions.

What is the Minimum Qualifying Score in UCEED 2024?

As discussed, students must obtain the cutoff marks for UCEED 2024 to be considered for admission to the BDes programme at IIT Bombay or institutions that accept UCEED. Depending on the score of every applicant who took the exam, different categories of applicants will receive different UCCED 2024 qualifying marks. The UCEED merit list 2024, which includes the rankings of the applicants based on their exam scores, will be made public following the UCEED 2024 results announcement. Apart from knowing about a good score in UCEED, prospective students can refer to the UCEED 2024 cutoff marks for qualifying given below:

UCEED 2024 Cutoff: Formula, Factors, and Previous Year Trends

The UCEED 2024 cutoff is the minimum score needed to qualify for the B.Des admission process. It is determined based on the marks scored by candidates in Part A of the exam. For the OPEN category, the cutoff is calculated using the following formula:

Cutoff = μ + 2σ

Here, μ represents the mean, and σ represents the standard deviation of the marks distribution of all candidates in Part A of UCEED 2024. Both the cutoff, μ, and σ will be rounded to two decimal places. For reserved categories, the cutoff will be lower: 0.9 times the OPEN cutoff for OBC-NCL/EWS and 0.5 times the OPEN cutoff for SC/ST/PwD.

  • OBC/ EWS cutoff: 0.9 x 69.89 = 62.90
  • SC/ ST/ PWD cutoff: 0.5 x 69.89 = 34.95
  • General candidate cutoff: 57.63 + (24.52/2) = 69.89

UCEED 2024 Cutoff

The UCEED 2024 cutoff mark is the minimum score required for admission to B.Des courses in IITs and other participating colleges of UCEED. The cutoff varies by category and exam section. The UCEED 2024 cutoff will be announced along with the UCEED 2024 merit list, which ranks candidates based on their scores. Each year, the cutoff marks may change depending on the exam's difficulty and the number of applicants.

How to Achieve a Good Score for UCEED 2024?

To answer questions like what a good UCEED score is and how to achieve it, candidates should follow these effective tips for UCEED preparation in 2024:

  • The UCEED syllabus includes topics related to design, such as visualization, observation, reasoning, creativity, and language. The exam is divided into two parts: Part A (online) and Part B (offline). Part A features three types of questions: Numerical Answer Type (NAT), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). Part B involves a single drawing question that addresses a given design problem.
  • Practice key topics such as mathematical geometry, abstract reasoning, English comprehension, general knowledge, and environmental studies. These areas are important for UCEED and need regular practice to boost speed and accuracy.
  • Solve UCEED previous years' question papers and UCEED sample papers. This practice will help you become familiar with the question types and difficulty levels in UCEED. It also allows you to assess your performance and pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Create a detailed study schedule on a monthly, weekly, and daily basis. A well-structured timetable will help you cover the entire syllabus and allow for thorough revision. Allocate sufficient time for each topic and section, including time for mock tests and breaks to rest your mind and body.

Colleges Accepting UCEED 2024 Scores

After the results are announced, IIT Bombay will set out a JoSAA Counselling 2024 or Joint Seat Allotment process. Nevertheless, UCEED 2024 result-sharing colleges will not take part in the IIT Bombay-conducted counselling. Overall five colleges offer admission to their BDes courses to students who take UCEED. The core requirement for admission to UCEED 2024 participating colleges will be an applicant’s final scores.

A few more institutions will also consider UCEED results in addition to the participating colleges. Based on the results, these institutes — also referred to as UCEED 2024 result-sharing institutes — will fill a portion of their BDes seats. It should be noted that additional entrance tests, such as those administered by particular universities, may be used to fill the available seats. The following is a list of some colleges accepting UCEED scores:

  • Alliance University, Bengaluru
  • CEPT University, Ahmedabad
  • CMR University, Bengaluru
  • Department of Design, Shiv Nadar IoE, Delhi NCR
  • FLAME University, Pune
  • GLS University, Gujarat
  • Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi
  • Institute of Design, Nirma University, Ahmedabad
  • ITM Skills University, Navi Mumbai
  • JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur
  • MIT ID Indore - Avantika University
  • Navrachana University, Gujarat
  • World University of Design, Sonipat

Note: It should be noted that the list of institutions above is not all-inclusive and will be updated whenever IIT Bombay declares the incorporation of a new university.

During the second week of March 2024, UCEED-qualified students will be able to apply for admission to BDes. Students who have obtained a good score in UCEED 2024 will be able to participate in rounds 1, 2, and 3 of the seat allocation process, which IIT Bombay will announce separately. Additionally, the seat assignment will be made available online as a PDF.
