The GTU grading system is based on a standardized 10-point scale ranging from AA (represented by 10 GPA) to FF (represented by 0 GPA). The evaluation process involves combining the marks obtained by students in both internal assessments (with a maximum score of 30 marks) and semester exams (with a maximum score of 70 marks) to arrive at a final grade. The grades are calculated based on a predetermined formula that takes into account the total marks scored by the student. The GTU grade system is designed to provide an accurate assessment of a student's academic performance and is widely recognized for its fairness and transparency. GTU Grading & Evaluation System (Latest)

The GTU grading and evaluation system is followed by the guidelines prescribed by the university. In the exam, there are two parts of the system in which a student's assessment is conducted as per the grading and evaluation system of Gujarat Technological University. Students are expected to clear all tests and exams to pass a particular semester.

Level 1

All students must appear for an internal assessment, which accounts for 30% of the total marks. The internal assessment is again split into two components - 20 marks for the mid-term examination and 10 for the internal evaluation. 

Level 2

The students must appear for the semester exams of their respective courses conducted by the Gujarat Technological University. This exam carries 70% weightage of the total marks.

GTU Semester Grading System

According to the GTU grading scale, by the end of the semester, the marks obtained in the internal assessment (maximum of 30 marks) and semester exams (maximum of 70 marks) will be added and converted into a grading system which alphabets will demarcate. The grade allocated to the particular range of marks obtained by the candidates in GTU and grade points are given in the table below:

CPI Calculation at Gujarat Technological University

The CPI is called a cumulative performance index. The GTU grading and evaluation system that is calculated is based on the student's overall performance throughout the course duration. Considerably, it is the sum of all the grades obtained in the course (current and preceding semesters) and is calculated on a 0-10-point scale. The CPA in GTU is commonly referred to as the CGPA obtained by students. The allocated class division and points out of 10 are represented in the tabular format:
