How will Admissions to DU Change after Implementation of CUET 2022
Delhi University will be granting UG admissions through CUET 2022. Here is how DU admissions will change after implementation of CUET 2022.
DU admissions are one of the most popular enrollment processes in India. However, due to the UGC’s decision to introduce Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for UG admission, the process will witness a lot of new changes from the year 2022.
Since DU has decided to accept CUET scores for granting admission to undergraduate courses, it will no longer be announcing cutoffs based on Class 12th board results. This decision will reduce the unnecessary stress of acquiring the perfect percentage in the Class 12th final exam. Changes in DU Admission after Implementation of CUET 2022
Check out the changes that DU admission will go through after the introduction of CUET 2022:
- Aspirants are required to pass only in their school-leaving exam.
- Candidates with only passing marks in Class 12th will also be eligible to write the CUET exam. However, every college will have its own DU eligibility criteria. Candidates are required to satisfy the minimum aggregate marks laid down by the desired college or else they will not be considered for admission.
- Earlier candidates’ percentage in the best four subjects would determine their chances of admission to DU. Now, the performance in the domain papers of CUET will be the deciding factor.
- Aspirants must note that the special entrance test for BMS, BBA and BBE will be invalid now as admission to these courses will also be based on scores obtained in CUET.
- Candidates who have dropped a year or have a year gap will not have a disadvantage now. However, they will still have to clear the CUET exam for DU admissions.
- For admission to music-related courses or physical education, the aspirants will be assessed based on the score acquired in the CUET score as well as through trials/ performance/ certificates. Both of the aforementioned criteria will be offered equal weightage.

Important Pointers about DU admissions through CUET
Here are a few important pointers that candidates should note if they are interested in DU admissions through CUET:
- Aspirants are required to attempt CUET only in those subjects that they have studied in Class 12th and a compulsory language in the first section of the entrance test.
- If an individual wishes to switch streams, he/she can do it by CUET 2022 as per the subjects they studied in Class 12th. (irrespective of the stream they wish to take admission in)
- DU will prepare a consolidated merit list based on the marks scored by registered students in CUET.
- CUET 2022 comprises three sections. The first section is bifurcated into two parts- Section IA & Section IB. The first section will have a choice of 13 languages while the second one will have a choice of 20 languages. Section II will include a choice of a total of 27 CUET domain subjects. The third section is a General Knowledge test which will be compulsory only for BA admissions.
- Candidates should only write the CUET domain exam that they have studied in Class 12th. If they are not able to find those subjects, they must choose similar ones. For instance: Students who have studied Biochemistry in Class 12th will have to opt for Biology in CUET as Biochemistry is not a part of the 27 specified domain subjects.
