IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023 Eligibility Criteria 

Before the submission of the IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023 Application Form, all aspiring candidates need to keep an eye on the eligibility criteria for the same. The eligibility criteria is clearly mentioned as follows:

• In Service Nurses, that is, all the Registered Nurses who and Registered Midwife (RNRM) who have completed their 10+2 and also their three-year diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with a minimum of 2 years of experience after RNRM can apply for the IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing course in 2023. 

• Male nurses can also apply for the IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023. For that, instead of midwifery, they must have a certificate in any of the 6 to 9 months long nursing courses as specified and authorised by the INC. 

OR 

• In-service nurses, that is, all the Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife (RNRM) who have passed their Matriculation (10th standard) examination or its equivalent and have a three year diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course with at least 5 years of experience in this career after RNRM can apply for the IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023. 

• Male nurses can also apply for the IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023. For that, instead of midwifery, they must have a certificate in any of the 6 to 9 months long nursing courses as specified and authorised by the INC.

• The mode of the examination is offline. It is also pen and paper-based. All the answers have to be marked on the OMR sheet provided. 

• The question paper has 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). 

• The marking scheme is simple enough- +1 for every correct answer and 0 for every wrong answer. 

• The total duration of the exam is 150 minutes or 2 hours and 30 minutes.

IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023 Admission/Selection Process 

IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023 admission procedure will commence based on the region-wise merit list provided through performance in the OPENNET-X examination. Regional centres where the Post Basic BSc Programme Study Centres are established will do the counselling and admissions as applicable. The SED will prepare the Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023 Merit List after the tie-break process is followed through. 

Tie-Break Criteria Include: 

The tie-break criteria that the SED follows include-

• Experience (from the date of registration of the RNRM): Experience refers to the days counted from the RNRM registration to the date of application receipt by IGNOU. In the case of female aspirants who have registered as RN and RM separately, the experience will be counted from the date of RM registration. For male candidates, the experience will be calculated from the date of RN registration. 

• GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) marks: The aggregate marks of GNM in all three years will be considered for calculating the percentage or merit. 

• Date of Birth: Candidates born earlier will have a higher rank than those born later.

• Category applied to: The category applied to will also be brought into consideration if the tie does not get resolved by now.  

• Draw of lots: This is the last effort to break the tie. The rank of a student will be decided based on the draw of lots. Luck will play a factor here. 

IGNOU Post-Basic BSc Nursing 2023 Result and Counselling

• Original admit card for OPENNET-X entrance examination

• Certificate of date or birth (10th standard certificate)

• 10+2 pass certificate 

• Valid RNRM certificate (if registered at more than one council, all valid certificates must be produced)

• Experience certificate (on Letter Head of the authorised authority with full name, date, signature and stamp). Experience refers to the days counted from the RNRM registration to the date of application receipt by IGNOU

• GNM Mark Sheet (mark sheets of all years must be included)

• Certificate from the organisation currently working under with clear indication that the aspiring candidate is presently working and in service as a registered nurse 

• Category certificate including the reservation status as selected on the basis on SC/ST/Non-creamy layer of OBC/PH/Kashmiri Migrant/War Widow and so on 

• In case of a non-creamy layer of OBC/EWS, income certificate must be presented 

• Two passport-size photographs

• Demand draft of INR 20,000 as drawn in favour of IGNOU for the 1st year admission fees, payable at concerned regional centre in the respective states
