IISc Entrance Exam for UG
IISc Bangalore offers two undergraduate programs: BSc (Research) and BTech, each with various specializations.
For the BSc (Research) programs, selection is based on the merit list from one of these national exams:
- JEE Main 2025
- JEE Advanced 2025
- NEET (UG) 2025
- IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2025
The selection for the BTech program is based on the merit list of JEE Advanced 2025.
Selected candidates will attend an online or in-person admission counselling session in June and July 2025. Candidates can download their offer letters from the admission portal under the available downloads section.
IISc Bangalore Eligibility for UG Programs
To be eligible, candidates must meet these educational qualifications:
- Candidates should have completed their 10+2 (or equivalent) examination in 2023 or expect to complete it in 2024.
- They must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects.
- Candidates must have secured a first-class or 60% (pass class for SC/ST candidates) in their qualifying examination.

Application Procedure for IISc Bangalore 2025
After sitting for the required entrance exams and downloading the results, candidates need to apply on the official website of IISc Bangalore to get admissions to their respective courses. The complete admission process for IISc Bangalore is discussed below:
- Go to the online admissions portal at admissions.iisc.ac.in.
- Click on “New user to register click here” to start your registration.
- Enter your name, date of birth, and email address.
- You will receive an email from noreply.admission@auto.iisc.ac.in. Click on the link in this email to activate your registration.
- Once your registration is active, log into the portal to begin your application.
- Before starting your application, ensure you have the following:
- Passport photo image file
- Signature image file
- Category certificate (PDF) for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS applicants
- Relevant certificates (PDF) for PwD and KM applicants
- Details of 10th and 12th standard schooling, marks, and key subjects
- Details of all undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees, and diplomas, including marks, cumulative scores, official rank (if available), and key subjects
- Details of all national entrance tests taken, including roll number, rank, score, and paper
- Once logged in, go to the “Application Status” page. Here, you can see your completed and incomplete applications and start a new application.
- Click on “Apply for another Programme” on the “My Application” panel on the left.
- Choose the new degree programme you wish to apply for.
- This will open the “Personal Details” page and assign an application number. Fill in all required information, such as gender, nationality, and mobile phone number.
- Click “Save and Proceed” to save your personal details.
- Carefully review the draft PDF of your application for completeness and correctness.
- Once satisfied with the application, read and agree to the Declaration. Note down or save your Application Number.
- Click on “Pay and Submit” to finalize your application. You will be directed to the payment gateway to pay the application fee online.

For applicants who have taken recent National Entrance Tests like GATE and JAM, it is possible that the results may not be available when you are submitting your IISc admissions application.
