ITI Technician Television and Audio Systems Syllabus: The Technical Television & Audio System is a two-year ATS trade offered nationwide. The course covers domains and cores, including Trade Theory & Practicals, Workshop Calculation & Science, Engineering Drawing, and Employability Skills. Trainees receive National Apprenticeship Certificates (NAC) from NCVT upon program completion.

The basic training lasts 6 months, with 3 months allocated to Block I and 3 months allocated to Block II. The on-the-job training lasts 18 months, with 9 months allocated to Block I and 9 months allocated to Block II.

  • Provide necessary guidance to newcomers to familiarize them with the Industrial Training Institute system, including store procedures.
  • Soft Skills: Importance and job areas after completion of training.
  • Introduction to:
    • First aid
    • Operation of electrical mains
    • PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment)
    • 5S concept and its application
  • Response to Emergencies: Power failure, fire, system failure.

  • Identification, Specifications, Uses, and Maintenance of: Commonly used hand tools.
  • Basic Terms: Electric charges, potential difference, voltage, current, resistance.
  • AC/DC Basics: +ve cycle, -ve cycle, frequency, period, RMS, peak, P-P, instantaneous value.
  • Single-Phase and Three-Phase Supply: Line and phase voltage/currents.
  • Materials: Insulators, conductors, semiconductors.
  • Electrical Cables: Types, specifications, wire gauge (SWG), classification.

Electrical Measuring Instruments

  • Introduction: Importance, classification, and forces necessary to work a meter.
  • Meter Types: MC (Moving Coil), MI (Moving Iron).

  • Care and Maintenance: Multi-meter, CRO, function generator, LCR meter.

Digital Electronics

  • Introduction: Difference between analogue and digital signals, logic families, logic levels of TTL and CMOS.
  • Number Systems: Decimal, binary, octal, hexadecimal, BCD code, ASCII code, code conversions.
  • Logic Gates: Truth tables, combinational logic circuits (half adder, full adder, parallel binary adders, magnitude comparators), IC applications.

Sequential Circuits

  • Flip-Flops: S-R latch, gated S-R latch, D-latch, RS flip flop, edge-triggered D flip flop, JK flip flop, T flip flop, master-slave flip flops, timing diagrams, applications.
  • Counters: Types, two-bit and three-bit asynchronous binary counters, decade counters, timing diagrams.
  • Displays: Seven-segment display, BCD display, BCD to decimal decoder.

Analog Electronics

  • Op-Amps: Block diagram, working, importance, ideal characteristics, advantages, applications.
  • 741 Op-Amp: Schematic diagram, symbol, non-inverting/inverting voltage amplifier, summing amplifier, comparator, zero-cross detector, differentiator, integrator, instrumentation amplifier, and other popular Op-Amps.  
  • 555 Timer: Block diagram, functional description, configurations (monostable, astable, VCO), applications.

Communication Systems

  • Optical Fiber: Introduction, advantages, properties, testing, losses, types of fibre optic cables, specifications, encoding of light, fibre optic joints, splicing, testing, equipment, precautions, and safety aspects.
  • Voltage Stabilizers: manual, automatic, servo, output voltage adjustment, voltage cutoff systems, relays, electronic circuits, and buck-and-boost concept.
  • Switch-mode power Supplies: block diagram, working principles, chopper circuits, DC-DC converters, ICs, applications.
  • Inverters: Principle, operation, power rating, change-over period, block diagram, installation, and protection circuits.
  • Three-Phase Inverters: Principle, working, installation.
