JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis Session 1 (January Session)

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Feb 1 (Shift 2)

  • The difficulty level of Shift 2 on the last day of the exam was moderate 

  • Students found the Chemistry portion relatively easier in comparison to Physics and Mathematics

  • Keeping up with the previous trends, very few questions were asked from Physical Chemistry; the questions from Organic Chemistry were very easy to attempt. 

  • Like the previous shifts, questions were asked from Biomolecules, Salt Analysis etc. Other topics included Electrohemistry, Purification, d & f Block Elements, Coordination Compounds and so on. 

  • 2 questions from Isomerism were seen in this shift

  • The Mathematics section was a bit time-consuming; students found the questions calculative. 

  • Approximately 3 questions were asked from Vector and 3D Geometry

  • In this shift, questions on Ellipse, Straight Lines, and Distance were also asked.

  • The Physics part was of easy to moderate level; although the majority of the questions were based on formulas, nearly 2-3 questions appeared tricky to most students. 

  • Questions from the Mechanics chapter in Physics were mostly based on numerical

  • A good number of questions were asked about Work, Power & Energy, Circular Motion, Laws of Motion, Semiconductors, Gravitation etc. 

  • Overall, most candidates could attempt about 57-60 questions in this shift

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Feb 1 (Shift 1)

  • The Shift 1 exam was overall easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level

  • According to the students, the exam paper was balanced on Day 5.

  • The Chemistry section was straightforward, with mostly theoretical questions; Organic Chemistry had a higher weightage than Inorganic Chemistry.

  • The Chemistry paper had 4-5 Assertion and Reasoning questions; direct questions from the CBSE syllabus were asked in Chemistry.

  • A good number of questions were seen from the chapters on Biomolecules and Salt Analysis; questions were also asked on topics, like Amino Benze, Aniline etc. 

  • Most students could attempt around 20-22 questions from this section.

  • In Physics, formula-based questions were asked, and the section was easy to solve, according to students.

  • 2 questions from the Capacitor chapter were asked in Physics, and no questions from Rotation were seen. Other chapters from which questions were asked in shift 1 included Unit Dimension and Mechanics. 

  • The average good attempts in Physics were 22-24

  • The Mathematics portion was moderately difficult, with lengthy questions.

  • About 6-7 tricky and time-consuming questions were asked in Maths, particularly those from Calculus; Vector and 3D Geometry had 2-3 questions. Although the average attempts were 11-12, students with a strong grip and good calculation skills could solve about 8-10 questions.

  • A few other topics that dominated the Maths paper were Differentials, Integers, and Conic etc. 

  • Overall, the attempts made in the Maths paper on the last day of the exam were less than in previous shifts and years.

  • The number of students appearing for the exam on the last day was notably less.

  • On average, the overall good attempts by students were 45-50.

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Jan 31 (Shift 2)

  • The overall difficulty level of Shift 2 paper was moderate

  • The Mathematics section was more or less difficult with most of the questions being lengthy according to the students

  • Questions were asked from Functions and Complex Numbers; 3-4 questions were based on Conic.

  • Mathematics problems were a bit time-consuming to solve

  • The Physics portion was somewhat easy and the majority of the questions were numerical-based

  • Students found the questions from Assertion-Reasoning a bit calculative. On the other hand, questions from Gravitation were easy to attempt.

  • The Chemistry part was easy like in the previous shifts with the majority of the questions being asked from Electrochemistry and Kinematics

  • Very few questions in Chemistry were seen from Reactions

  • The Physical Chemistry section had more weightage as compared to Organic Chemistry

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Jan 31 (Shift 1)

  • The Shift 1 exam was overall of a moderate difficulty level

  • Among the sections, Mathematics was comparatively more time-consuming and moderately difficult. However, about 3-4 questions in Maths were easily doable.

  • The section included 2 questions from Differential Equations, of which one was easy and the other was a bit calculative. Additionally, a few questions were asked from AP & GP, which were not included in the deleted syllabus.

  • 3D Geometry, Vectors, Ellipse, Straight Lines, Circle, Integration, Matrices, and Determinants were some of the other topics covered in the Mathematics section.

  • On the other hand, the Chemistry section was overall easy in comparison to Maths and Physics. Questions were asked from Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, and most of the questions were based on NCERT books.

  • In Chemistry, 1 question was asked from Mole Concepts. Other topics included f and d block elements, Coordination Compounds, Purification, etc.

  • On average, the time taken to solve Chemistry questions was 30 minutes.

  • The Physics portion in Shift 1 was of moderate level

  • Students could attempt approximately 18-19 questions, and the topics mainly covered in Physics included Ray Optics, Circular Motion, Rotation, Nuclear Physics, Modern Physics, Mechanics, etc.

  • The average time taken by students to solve Physics questions was 40-50 minutes. Overall, the expected good attempts for the exam are 20-21.

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Jan 30 (Shift 2)

  • Based on the students' reactions, the Shift 2 paper was moderately difficulty.

  • In the Physics section, the questions were moderate to difficult and were similar to those in the previous exam shifts. Most students could attempt around 17 to 18 questions.

  • The maximum weightage was given to Current Electricity & Magnetism. Others included Kinematics, Work Power & Energy, Laws of Motion, Sound & Waves, Heat & Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Gravitation, Semiconductors, and Modern Physics. 

  • The Chemistry section was relatively easy, with more questions focusing on Organic Chemistry as compared to Inorganic Chemistry. Very few questions were asked in Physical Chemistry.

  • Questions were asked from Alcohols, Ether & Phenols, GOC, Aryl & Alkyl Halides, Amines, Aldehydes & Ketones, and Biomolecules.

  • In Physical Chemistry, the topics covered were Mole Concepts, Solutions, Chemical Equilibrium, and Thermodynamics. 

  • In the Mathematics section, students found the questions to be tricky and the paper a bit lengthy. More weightage was given to the NCERT Class 11 syllabus. 

  • Questions in Maths were covered from topics, like Vector, 3D Geometry, Areas, Limits, Statistics, Algebra, and Calculus, among others.

  • A good number of questions were asked from Complex Numbers, Conic Sections, and Matrices & Determinants.

  • About 4 questions were asked from Vector 3D. Some questions were also asked from the previous year's question papers of JEE Mains.

  • In the Chemistry section, topics like Thermodynamics, Mole Concepts, Chemical Kinetics, Ionic Equilibrium, d and f block Elements etc. carried a good amount of weightage.

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Jan 30 (Shift 1)

  • Overall, the exam difficulty level of Shift 1 was moderate.

  • Both the Physics and Mathematics sections were moderately difficult while the Chemistry portion was easy

  • More than one question was asked from 3-D Geometry, Vectors, Limits, Differential Equations, and Matrices.

  • Greater emphasis was given to Algebra and Calculus chapters

  • Questions on Probability, Complex Numbers, Binomial Theorem, Statistics, Quadratic Equations, Progressions, and Matrices & Determinants were asked in Algebra.

  • Questions in Calculus were asked from Indefinite Integrals, Continuity & Differentiability, and Differential Equations.

  • The Coordinate Geometry part had questions on Ellipse and Circle

  • Some of the numerical questions in Mathematics were a bit lengthy

  • The majority of the questions in Physics were formula-based. Most students found 15-16 questions doable. 

  • Questions were asked from chapters, like Laws of Motion, Work Power & Energy, Gravitation, Heat & Thermodynamics, Capacitance, Optics, Modern Physics, Semiconductors, Kinematics, Current Electricity, and Electrostatics. However, a few questions were seen from Earth Magnetism, which was deleted from the syllabus. 

  • More weightage in Physics was given to the 12th grade syllabus 

  • The Chemistry section had direct questions, which students found easy. 

  • Approximately 90% weightage was given to Organic Chemistry and very few questions were covered from Physical Chemistry

  • The majority of the questions in Chemistry were asked from the NCERT 12th grade rather than the 11th class syllabus

  • Questions asked from Thermodynamics, Ionic Equilibrium, Atomic Structure, Mole Concept, Chemical Bonding, Chemical Kinetics, IUPAC,  Alcohol, Ether & Phenol, Coordination Compounds, Amines, Aryl & Alkyl Halides, Periodic Table, and d & f block Elements.

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Jan 29 (Shift 2)

  • The overall difficulty level of the Shift 2 was moderate

  • The Mathematics section was of moderate to difficult level. A few of the MCQ and NAT questions were a bit tricky and calculative.

  • More weightage was given to the Calculus and Algebra portions with the majority of the questions being covered from Complex Numbers, Definite Integrals, Application of Derivatives, Differential Equations and Functions. 

  • Questions were asked from Straight Lines and Circle in Coordinate Geometry, Binomial Theorem, Matrices & Determinants, Permutation & Combination, Statistics, Probability, and 3D Geometry.

  • 2 questions were asked each from Vectors and Progression

  • The Physics section was easy and most of the questions were numerical-based

  • The chapters majorly covered were Kinematics, Work Power & Energy, Laws of Motion, Sound & Waves, Heat & Thermodynamics, Rotational Motion, Current Electricity, Optics, Atoms & Nuclei, and Modern Physics.

  • The Chemistry part was of easy to moderate level

  • Most of the questions were asked from Organic and Inorganic Chemistry while very few were from Physical Chemistry

  • The section included questions from Alcohols, Ether & Phenols, GOC, Amines, Aldehydes & Ketones, Biomolecules, Aryl & Alkyl Halides etc. The majority of these questions were conceptual. 

  • Questions from Mole Concepts, Chemical Equilibrium and Electrochemistry were asked in Physical Chemistry.

  • Questions in Inorganic Chemistry were asked about d-block Elements, Chemical Bonding, and Coordination Compounds.

  • Like in earlier shifts, the Chemistry questions were based on NCERT textbooks. 

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Jan 29 (Shift 1)

  • The overall difficulty level of the paper was easy to moderate

  • Students found the Mathematics section moderately difficult. The questions were a bit tricky and time-consuming to solve.

  • Questions were asked about Matrices and Determinants, Vectors & 3D, Sequence and Series, Limits and Continuity, Integration, Binomial Theorem and Probability.

  • Questions on Calculus was dominant in the shift 1 paper

  • Nearly all the topics were covered but the majority of the questions asked were based on the 12th Class syllabus. 

  • The Physics section was of moderate to difficult level. Mostly formula-based questions were asked in this section.

  • Questions were covered from chapters, like Semiconductors, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, Current Electricity, Galvanometer, Atomic Structure, and Magnetism.

  • Questions asked in Chemistry were majorly based on NCERT books, which students found easy to solve. 

  • The majority of the questions were asked from Organic Chemistry and were theory-based. Topics covered included the Structure of Atom, Metallurgy, d-block Elements, Bromination, and Biomolecules etc.

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Jan 27 (Shift 2)

  • Overall, the difficulty level of the Shift 2 exam was easy.

  • The Mathematics part was moderate to difficult. Students found this section a bit lengthy and calculative. 

  • A good number of questions were asked about Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, 3D and Vectors. However, the maximum weightage was given to Algebra. Questions were also asked from Matrix & Determinants, and Integration in the paper.

  • The Physics section was moderately difficult to solve. A few questions based on assertion-reasoning were present.

  • Questions from Work Power and Energy, Modern Physics, Fluids and Thermodynamics were asked. Most of the questions were based on the Class 12 syllabus. Students who have practised JEE Mains pyq were better able to tackle the questions.

  • The Chemistry portion was largely based on NCERT textbooks

  • The majority of the questions were asked from Physical Chemistry and few very from Organic Chemistry.

  • About 2-3 questions were asked from d-block elements. Bonding Alkyl and Aryl Halides, Electrochemistry, and Thermodynamics were among the other topics asked in the exam paper. 

  • No questions were asked from the deleted syllabus in this shift

JEE Main 2024 Question Paper Analysis - Jan 27 (Shift 1)

  • The overall exam difficulty level was easy to moderate

  • The paper pattern was the same as the previous year

  • The Mathematics section was a bit lengthy and the questions were moderately difficult to answer

  • Questions were asked from Complex Numbers, Calculus, 2-D Matrices and Determinants. Although nearly all the topics were covered, the maximum weightage was given to 2D and Calculus. 

  • The Physics portion was of easy to moderate level

  • Questions were asked from Current Electricity and Mechanics. The majority of the questions were based on Modern Physics.

  • Most of the questions in Physics were asked from the syllabus of 11th grade. Some of the questions were seen being repeated from the previous year's question papers. 

  • The Chemistry part was of moderate level with the majority of the questions being theoretical-based. A few questions were based on memory-based data, which students found confusing. 

  • Questions in Chemistry were largely based on the topics covered in NCERT books. 

  • The chapters mainly covered were Biomolecules, Chemical Kinetics, Alcohol, Phenol and Ethers, Aldehyde, Ketone and Carboxylic Acids, and Thermodynamics. Overall, all the topics were uniformly covered.
