JoSAA 2024 Rank Lists: JoSAA rank lists 2024 are prepared based upon the ranks secured by the candidates in the JEE Main or the JEE Advanced exam. The ranking system varies for the JEE Main qualified candidates and the JEE Advanced qualified candidates. Seat allocation across IITs is based upon the JEE Advanced 2024 rank and seat allocation in the NIT+System is based upon the JEE Main 2024 rank. In this article, we have laid down the different kinds of JoSAA rank list 2024 as per different systems.

JoSAA 2024 Rank Lists

The various types of JoSAA rank lists have been mentioned below.

  • Common rank list (CRL): It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag GEN, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL, OBCNCL-PwD, SC, SC-PwD, ST or ST-PwD. Foreign tag candidates are also included in the CRL which is prepared based upon JEE Advanced 2024 score.
  • GEN-EWS rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag GEN-EWS or GEN-EWS-PwD.
  • OBC-NCL rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag OBC-NCL or OBC-NCL-PwD.
  • SC rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag SC or SCPwD.
  • ST rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag ST or STPwD.
  • CRL-PwD rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD, or ST-PwD.
  • GEN-EWS-PwD rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag GEN-EWS-PwD.
  • OBC-NCL-PwD rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag OBC-NCL-PwD.
  • SC-PwD rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag SCPwD.
  • ST-PwD rank list: It comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the tag ST-PwD.

JoSAA Rank Lists 2024 for IITs

The following rank lists for preparatory course will be used to include otherwise eligible candidates who have obtained at least 2.5% marks in each of the three subjects and at least 8.75% aggregate marks in the JEE Advanced 2024 exam and are not in any of the other rank lists prepared on the basis of the JEE Advanced 2024 exam. The following rank lists will be used for providing admission to the eligible candidates into the preparatory courses offered by the IITs .

  • SC preparatory course rank list: This rank list comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the SC or SC-PwD tag.
  • ST preparatory course rank list: This rank list comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the ST or ST-PwD tag.
  • CRL-PwD preparatory course rank list: This rank list comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBCNCL-PwD, SC- PwD, or ST-PwD tag.
  • GEN-EWS-PwD preparatory course rank list: This rank list comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the GEN-EWS-PwD tag.
  • OBC-NCL-PwD preparatory course rank list: This rank list comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the OBC-NCL-PwD tag.
  • SC-PwD preparatory course rank list: This rank list comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the SC-PwD tag.
  • ST-PwD preparatory course rank list: This rank list comprises the names of the candidates who are assigned the ST-PwD tag.

Rank lists for admission into IITs are based on the performance of candidates in the JEE Advanced 2024 exam. The qualifying marks that a candidate has to secure in the JEE Advanced 2024 exam for inclusion in various rank lists have been mentioned below. For inclusion in any of the rank lists, the candidates must satisfy the corresponding minimum marks in each of the three subjects (viz., Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) as well as the aggregate marks.

Candidates must keep in mind that CRL is the rank list in which all candidates (across all categories) will be assigned ranks. However, the minimum percentage of aggregate marks may be lowered subsequently, in case required, as per the MoE (erstwhile MHRD) directive (F.No. 28-8/2017-T.S.-I) dated June 13, 2018.

JoSAA Rank Lists 2024 for NIT+System

The rank lists for securing admission into the NIT+System are prepared by the JEE Apex Board as follows:

  • One set of ten rank lists based upon the performance of candidates in JEE Main 2024 B.E. / B.Tech. Paper.
  • Second set of ten rank lists based upon the performance of candidates in JEE Main 2024 B.Arch. Paper.
  • Third set of ten rank lists based on the performance of candidates in JEE Main 2024 B.Plan. Paper.

All the candidates who appeared for the JEE Main 2024 exam are considered while preparing the rank lists and are allowed to fill in their choices. The rank lists provided by the JEE Apex Board will be used as such without any change even if two or more candidates have the same rank. In other words, JoSAA 2024 will not apply any tie-breaking norms / rules. A candidate may appear in one or more rank lists.

FAQs

Does JoSAA release round-wise cutoff?

After the declaration of the seat allotment results, JoSAA releases cutoffs separately for every round. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will release Rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 cutoffs on the official website at josaa.nic.in.    

When did JoSAA Counselling start in 2024?

The Joint Seat Allotment Authority (JoSAA) has commenced with JEE Advanced 2024 counselling process from June 10, 2024. The candidates who have cleared the JEE Advanced 2024 exam  will have to register for the preferred courses and colleges within the given time frame.  

Which rank does JoSAA consider?

JoSAA allocation of seats is based upon CRL for the Open (General) category of seats. For all other categories such as GEN-EWS, GEN-PWD, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, etc., seats are allotted based upon the respective category rank.  

Is top 20 percentile required for admission into NIT?

According to the NTA eligibility criteria, a candidate is required to score a minimum 75 percent aggregate score in the class 12 board examination or he/she must be amongst the top 20 percentile in 10+2 or any equivalent examination for getting admissions at the NITs and also for the other institutes of national importance.

What is the minimum rank required for admission into NIT?

Candidates rank should be less than 10,000 in the JEE Main exam to get admission into NITs. However, newer NITs accept candidates with a rank greater than 70,000 in the JEE Main exam.  

Is 75% criteria required for JoSAA counselling 2024?

All the candidates who have qualified the JEE Main or the JEE Advanced exam will be eligible to register and appear for the JoSAA counselling and seat allotment procedures. Candidates must secure at least 75% in Class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile. For the SC, ST, and PwD category candidates, the qualifying percentage is 65% for securing admission into IITs.
