CBSE Class 12 exams are currently underway which is keeping students busy so that they can prepare effectively. It has been observed many a time, a majority of students are very apprehensive about appearing for the Maths exam, which is no less than a nightmare for them. The exam is scheduled to take place on 21st March 2018. A good preparation strategy and a lot of practice and mock tests can help students secure decent marks in the exam. Additionally, it is important that students have a positive mindset and confident approach while attempting the exam in order to score a good percentage in the board exams. Students need to understand that this just the first hurdle and they may have to face even tougher entrance examinations in future.

CollegeDekho brings to you a bunch of tips that will help students to score better marks in CBSE Maths Board Exam.

1. Give Enough Time to Reading the Question Paper

Students must keep in mind that reading the question paper thoroughly plays a vital role in enabling better performance in the examination, which is why this practice was even introduced. It is necessary for the students to understand the questions asked in the exam. There will be roughly 29 questions in the question paper for which you shall devote at least 15 minutes to read and understand the same. Read all the questions properly, particularly those involving statements like 3-D Geometry, AP & GP, Probability and Matrices. Since questions will have internal choices, proper selection of questions must be made. The process of answering questions should always be like a pattern called ‘Known to Unknown’.

2. Space Management for Answers is Important

After deciding what questions to answer, it is necessary to manage the space. Structure for answers is the key factor that every student must consider. It is advisable to begin answering each section on a fresh page. Remember that the proper question number must be written for each question in the left margin. You need to make a note that rough work is not necessary for all the questions. Therefore, avoid drawing margin for rough work on every page of the answer booklet as it will minimize the width of the page.

3. Time Management is a Pathway to Success

Time management is the most important wherein you must restrict yourslef to writing the important points within a precise time-frame. For example, answering questions in Section – A will take hardly 8-10 minutes. Similarly, you can devote 25-30 minutes to Section - B, 60 minutes to Section - C and 40 minutes for Section - D. If you forget an answer or if you are struck while answering the question, you can start answering another question rather than wasting time.

4. Stay Away from Stress

If you are confident and have prepared well for examination, there is no point in feeling stressed or nervous about the examination. All the questions in the question paper will be from the prescribed syllabus. Therefore, do not panic by thinking about the exam environment. While writing the exam, stay cool and answer all the questions properly. If you are stuck while solving the problems, do not be nervous and try answering other questions. The more you stay away from stress, the better you perform in the exam.

5. Attempt All Questions

If you have prepared well for the examination, there is no chance or scope for unknown questions in the question paper. Therefore, try to attempt all the questions for a better score in the exam. If you do not know the answer to any questions, try to write known steps. As per CBSE Marking Scheme, marks will be awarded even if the full answer is not correct.

6. Say No to Overwriting and Scribbling

Present your answers neatly and systematically in the exam. It is impossible to change the hard-writing at the moment but you can make sure that it is legible. Do not resort to overwriting or scribbling. If something is written wrong, just cross it out and write again instead of overwriting.

7. Rechecking and Rectification

If you complete the exam within the stipulated time, do not leave the examination hall or sit idle. It is advisable to recheck the answers. There might be some unknown mistakes which can be rectified through rechecking. Sometimes silly and careless mistakes will have a negative impact on the overall score. Therefore, it is better to recheck and rectify.

Finally, tag the answer sheet properly. Make sure that all the sheets are in order.

We hope that these tips might be useful for you. All the Best!
