How to Get Admission in Private Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu

Students must meet the Tamil Nadu NEET Cutoff 2024 to secure admission to any medical college in Tamil Nadu. A step-by-step guide of the admission process for Private Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu has been provided below.

  • Step 1 - Registration for NEET Counselling: Students can register for either AIQ counselling or State Quota Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2024 via the official websites: mcc.nic.in for NEET AIQ counselling and tnmedicalselection.net for State Quota counselling.

  • Step 2 - Release of NEET Merit List: MCC releases a NEET Merit List 2024, and the Selection Committee, DMER, Chennai releases a separate Tamil Nadu NEET UG Merit List 2024 for 85% state quota seats. Students whose names have been mentioned in the list are eligible for further steps of counselling, such as choice-filling and seat allotment.

  • Step 3 - Participate in Choice-Filling and Locking: Students can submit the names of the desired private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu during NEET UG 2024 Choice Filling. If they meet the admission cutoff, they will be allotted a seat.

  • Step 4 - Seat Allotment List: A seat allotment list is released, which consists of the names of the students and the names of the allotted colleges.

  • Step 5 - Report at the Allotted College: Students are advised to report at the allotted Private Medical Colleges in Tamil Nadu for fee payment and seat confirmation. A physical document verification process is conducted before fee payment, so students must carry the Documents Required for NEET Counselling 2024 for MBBS Admission.

Students can engage in counselling for private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu through either All India Counselling or state counselling. However, those who secure seats via NEET AIQ counselling are not eligible for state quota seats. Generally, students scoring below 650 marks in NEET UG tend to enrol in private medical colleges. Those specifically targeting admission to medical colleges in Tamil Nadu should choose NEET state-wise counselling. The qualifying marks for counselling eligibility change each year; for the minimum qualifying marks for admission to private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu, check out What is a Good Score in NEET UG 2024.

In order to get a seat in MBBS college offering low fees, students have to aim to secure marks higher than 650. Only then, you'll be able to get into a government college where fees are on the lower side. If students score around 500-550 marks, they can opt for these institutions that have slightly lower fees than others.
