Situated almost in between the ruins of ancient Nalanda and Vikramshila Vishwavidyalaya, the Munger University campus is spread over 25 acres of land. The University came into existence on March 18, 2018, through the bifurcation of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur. It was established under the Bihar State Universities (Amendment) Act, 2016 (Bihar Act – 1/2017) and is recognized by UGC and AIU.

At present, there are 17 constituent colleges, 17 affiliated colleges, 5 single faculty education colleges (Affiliated B. Ed. Colleges), and one affiliated law college at Munger University. The infrastructure is nothing extraordinary, the building is a simple structure of brick and mortar. Munger University offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocational courses in Commerce, Arts, Science, Business Administration, etc.

However, there is currently no information available about these courses on its official website, and it says the content will be updated soon. In fact, the website appears to be outdated and lacks up-to-date information. As it has been just five years since its inception, Munger University has a long way to go when it comes to making a name. Due to the unavailability of any information about academia on the official website of Munger University, you might have to physically visit the college and learn about it. Classrooms are not that crowded, which means the student-to-teacher ratio is good. The faculty members are surely not world-class, but they are well-educated to impart the right knowledge to students. If world-class faculty is one of the parameters in your check list while shortlisting universities, then Munger University may not meet your crteria for an ideal college.  

Munger University Infrastructure

The infrastructure of the university is nothing extraordinary. The building looks like any other low-budget government institution.

Classrooms: The classrooms of Munger University are nothing fancy and have a basic setup. Some students have mentioned that the classrooms are dirty and sometimes there’s no electricity.

Hostels: The hostels are in poor condition, as reported by students who expressed concerns about the filthy rooms. The hostel only has one shared bathroom, which is also unclean. Additionally, the hostel lacks essential amenities aside from a bed and an open wardrobe.

Auditorium: The college has one small auditorium for all possible events. 


Library and Cafeteria: No information about the library or cafeteria is available.

Our Take:

The infrastructure of a college campus is crucial in supporting your education and building connections among them. The campus environment, if warm and inviting spaces, plays a significant role in enhancing student engagement. But, looks like it is among the last concerns of the University administration. Studying and living in a dirty environment is definitely not a positive.

If you are a student from Munger or any nearby town who just wants to earn a degree, then this university can be considered. However, we won’t recommend students from other states and faraway cities to join this university as the hostels are not good and the education offered is nothing extraordinary.

Munger University Management/ Administration

Many students have complained that the college is not well-managed as the classrooms and hostels are too dirty. Also, the semester exams get delayed which results in the late completion of the course. Although Munger University came into existence five years ago, it still lacks management. Also, if a 3-year course takes 4-5 years to complete, then you should look for other options.

Munger University Location

Munger University is located in Shastrinagar, R. D. & D. J. College Campus, Munger in the state of Bihar in India. It is situated almost in between the ruins of ancient Nalanda and Vikramshila Vishwavidyalaya. The college is easily accessible as it lies in the centre of the city. The city is situated about 180 km east of the capital city of Patna. The location cannot be a problem for Patnaites, given its close proximity to all things required. 

Munger University: Expectation vs Reality CLD Verdict!

At present, Munger University has nothing that can attract students from different states to come here and get an education. The courses are offered only in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams, so if you just want to get a degree, Munger University may be for you. 

The website seems to not have been updated since its inception which is a concern regarding its authenticity. The official Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp groups of Munger University have updates regarding the exam schedule and nothing more.
