NEET 2016 Seat Allocation Process: States to Decide 85% & Centre 15%
A total of approximately 53,330 MBBS and BDS seats are up for grabs in 426 medical colleges basis NEET 2016 counselling process.
Based on the directives of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and the subsequent ordinances promulgated by the Central Government on May 24, 2016, the NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST-II (UG), 2016 was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The AIPMT-2016/ NEET- I was conducted on May 1, 2016, while NEET-II was conducted on July 24, 2016. Many states still went ahead with their own Medical Entrance exams as well, probably for the last time. The NEET exam result 2016 was announced on August 16, with Het Shahs from Gujarat topping the exam and with an overall better performance demonstrated by girls as compared to boys. However, the 2016 NEET Counselling Process was conducted as per schedule.

The CBSE has been responsible for conducting the NEET entrance examination, declaration of NEET result and providing the NEET All India Rank to the Counseling Authorities and Admitting Institutions.

How can you Apply basis NEET 2016 scores?
A total of approximately 53330 MBBS and BDS seats are up for grabs in 426 medical colleges basis NEET 2016. For some private colleges, the candidates might have to apply individually directly. For CMC Vellore, fresh application date is open till August 25, 2016 and the candidates can also apply to MGIMS Wardha till August 23, 2016 (within seven days of release of 2016 NEET Result).

Quota for Seat Allocation under 2016 NEET score
Besides under 15% merit positions of All India Quota seats, the following States/Universities/Institutions/ AFMC will also use the merit list of NEET 2016 (which constitutes for 85% of the seats) for admission to MBBS/BDS seats under their control:

For 15% All India Quota seats, counselling will be conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). But for seats under the control of participating States/Universities/Institutions as listed above, counselling will be conducted by their respective state authorities such as Directorate of Medical Education & Training, Odisha for the Medical colleges in Odisha. Seats for candidates applying from outside India:
Indian Nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) are also eligible for appearing in the NEET 2016. However, OCIs cannot avail seats under 15% All India Quota. Eligibility of OCI candidates for admission under seats in the control of participating States/Universities/Institutions shall be ascertained before applying for NEET.
