Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, candidates are advised to wear masks and carry gloves on exam day.

The official authority decides the NEET 2023 dress code for male and female candidates which has to be adhered to. NEET dress code 2023 for male and female candidates is -

NEET Dress Code 2023 for Male Candidates

  • Based on the NEET dress code 2023, male students have to make sure that they wear half-sleeve T-shirts/ shirts as full-sleeve shirts are strictly prohibited to be worn on examination day.
  • Apparel donned by male students must be light, i.e., zip pockets, big buttons, and embroidered clothes should not be present on the clothes.
  • Simple pants or trousers need to be preferred as NEET dress code 2023 for male candidates. Students are not allowed to wear Kurta Pyjamas to the test centre.
  • Shoes are strictly prohibited inside the test centre. One must wear sandals and chappals comprising a thin sole.

NEET Dress Code 2023 for Female Candidates

  • Female students are advised to not wear clothes with elaborate embroidery, brooches, flowers, or buttons as this is prohibited according to the NEET dress code 2023 for female candidates.
  • Full-arm-length sleeves clothes should not be worn on the main exam day. Female candidates can instead wear half-sleeve clothes.
  • Female candidates wearing jeans with big pockets or any fashionable clothing are not as per the NTA NEET dress code.
  • Leggings are strictly prohibited in NEET 2023 exam centre.
  • Palazzo is not allowed to be worn in NEET 2023 exam as per the dress code for female
  • Females must avoid wearing high heels and thick sole shoes. One must instead opt for sandals or slippers. Students can feel free to wear low heel footwear.
  • Female students should avoid wearing any pieces of jewellery like nose rings, earrings, rings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, or anklets. Metal detectors will be present at the test centre to check if students are carrying a prohibited item or not.

NEET 2023 Dress Code - Customary dress

During the application form-filling process of NEET 2023, students are presented with an option to wear a customary dress that contradicts the NEET dress code 2023. Based on the religion students follow, they can choose which customary dress they have to wear at any cost.

However, aspirants who have opted to wear NEET 2023 customary dress have to reach at least an hour before the reporting time to ensure all security checks are conducted smoothly. It is advisable for students to follow the standard NEET dress code 2023 carefully to avoid 'unfair means' or to face any misconduct charges against them.

NEET Dress Code for Sikh Applicants

Students who follow a specific religion get the option to declare their customary dress during the form filling process. Delhi high court of India has provided relaxation for Sikh candidates and allowed them to don their traditional Kirpan and Kara to the test. These items fall under the option of customary dress.

NEET 2023 Dress Code For Muslim Girls

The Delhi high court has granted relaxation in rules and allowed Female candidates to wear burkha as per the customary dress option. The same needs to be declared during the application form filling process

List of Prohibited Items in NEET 2023

While students follow the NTA NEET dress code 2023, sometimes, they carry prohibited items to the exam centre which causes unnecessary trouble for them. Here is the list of prohibited items mentioned below for reference that aspirants must not carry to the test centre.

  • Electronic items: Mobile phones, earphones, pen drives, microphones, Bluetooth devices, as well as watches, are strictly prohibited to be carried inside the examination hall.
  • Eatables: Food items in any form, whether it’s packed or unpacked along with personal water bottles, are not allowed to be carried inside the test centre. However, students who have special conditions like diabetes or other diseases can carry their food, medicines, and a transparent water bottle after taking approval from the official authorities.
  • Stationery: Students must not carry a pen/ pencil, eraser, paper, scales, calculator, geometry box, and log tables inside the test centre.
  • Personal items: Wallets, belts, goggles, caps, cameras, accessories, and ornaments, are strictly prohibited to be carried inside the test centre.

NEET 2023 Exam Day Guidelines: Things that Students Can Carry to the Exam Centre

Here is a list of items allowed to be carried inside the test centre on the day of the NTA NEET 2023 exam.

  • NEET admit card 2023: No aspirants are allowed to be carried inside the exam centre without their NEET UG admit card.
  • ID proof: Students should carry a valid photo ID card without which entry to the test centre is not allowed.
  • Passport size picture: Students need to carry a passport-size photograph of themselves without fail to the exam centre.
  • Proforma: Aspirants are needed to paste their coloured postcard-size photograph on the proforma and carry the same to the test centre.

Yes, it is compulsory for male and female candidates to follow the NEET dress code 2023. The dress code is specified by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to maintain the sanctity and fairness of the examination. The dress code for male candidates includes wearing light-coloured clothes, half-sleeved shirts or t-shirts, and simple pants.
