Expected NEET 2023 Qualifying Marks

The NEET 2023 Counselling Process relies on qualifying marks to determine the minimum score required for eligibility. It is a common misconception among students to assume that the qualifying marks for NEET are simply 50% of the total score, such as 720/2 = 360. However, it is important to grasp the distinction between percentile and percentage and comprehend how they differ.

For instance, if the NEET qualifying mark is set at the 50th percentile, it means that a candidate must surpass at least 50% of the total number of NEET applicants. This highlights the relative performance of candidates in comparison to their peers.

The specific qualifying marks for NEET vary from year to year, typically falling within the range of 150 to 200. However, candidates must note that scores within this range may not be sufficient to secure admission to renowned medical colleges.

Steps to Calculate NEET 2023 Score

  • Once the NEET official answer key for the year 2023 is released, candidates will have the opportunity to compare their own answers with it. It is strongly advised that students give careful attention to both the question paper code and the answer key code when performing this comparison.
  • The answer key will provide clear indications of the sets and language options at the top, alongside the accompanying OMR sheet. This ensures that candidates can easily identify the specific version of the test they have taken.
  • To ascertain their NEET score in 2023, medical aspirants will need to meticulously tally the number of correct and incorrect responses they have given. It is important to note that if a question has multiple answers marked, it should be treated as unanswered, as per the examination guidelines.
  • The NEET UG 2023 marking scheme will be employed in the calculation of scores. Candidates can utilize the following formula to determine their NEET 2023 score: NEET 2023 score = [4 * (Number of Correct Responses)] - [1 * (Number of Incorrect Responses)]. By plugging in the corresponding values, candidates can accurately calculate their scores based on this established formula.

Factors Affecting NEET Passing Marks 2023

There are several factors that can affect the NEET passing marks 2023. Here are a few:

  1. Difficulty level of the exam: The NEET exam is known for being highly competitive and challenging. The exam's difficulty level can play a crucial role in determining the passing marks. If the exam is exceptionally difficult, the passing marks may be lower to ensure that enough candidates are able to clear it.

  2. Number of candidates appearing for the exam: The number of candidates appearing for the NEET exam can also affect the passing marks for NEET 2023. If the number of candidates is high, the passing marks may be higher to ensure that only the most deserving candidates get admission.

  3. Reservation Policy: The reservation policy in India is designed to provide equal opportunities to all sections of society. The reservation policy can also affect passing marks. If there are a large number of reserved category candidates, the passing marks for these candidates may be lower.

  4. Previous year's Passing Marks: The passing marks for the NEET exam are usually based on the previous year's performance. If the previous year's performance was exceptional, the NEET 2023 passing marks might be higher to ensure that the standards are maintained.

  5. Cut-off Marks of Colleges: The cut-off marks of the colleges can also play a role in determining the passing marks. If the cut-off marks of a particular college are very high, the passing marks may be higher to ensure that only the most deserving candidates get admission.

Expected NEET Passing Marks 2023 – Seat Reservation Under 15% AIQ and 85% State Quota

Candidates should be aware that a portion of the total seats in government MBBS/BDS colleges is reserved for students under both the All India Quota (AIQ) and the state quota. Understanding the expected NEET 2023 passing marks is crucial for securing admission through these reservation categories.

Seat Reservation Under 15% AIQ

Out of the total seats, 15% are reserved for students under the All India Quota. These seats can only be filled by students who meet the NEET 2023 scores/cutoff for government colleges. To secure a seat under this quota, candidates need to achieve the minimum passing marks determined by the respective authorities.

Seat Reservation Under 85% State Quota

Under this policy, 85% of the total government medical seats are reserved for students from the respective states. The admission process for these seats is carried out by the state authorities. Candidates aspiring to secure admission under the state quota must meet the NEET 2023 passing marks specified by the state government.

Understanding the expected NEET passing marks for both the 15% AIQ and 85% state quota categories is essential for candidates planning their admission strategies.

NEET Passing Marks 2023: Tie-breaking Process

If two or more candidates achieve the same rank in NEET, the NEET cutoff qualifying scores tie-breaking criteria will be implemented. The following steps, listed in order of preference, will be used to resolve the tie in the NEET result. Please note that the age-based tie-breaking method has been discontinued for NEET 2023.

  1. First preference will be given to aspirants who have scored higher marks/percentile in Biology (Botany and Zoology) for the NEET merit list. This criterion helps determine the ranking when there is a tie in overall scores.
  2. If the tie still exists, the candidate with higher marks/percentile in Chemistry will be considered. This further helps differentiate candidates who have scored the same in Biology.
  3. In the event that the tie persists, students who have attempted a lesser number of incorrect and correct answers will be ranked higher. This criterion encourages accuracy in responses and rewards candidates who have answered more questions correctly.

It's important to note that the NEET passing marks and qualifying score for NEET 2023 will be determined by the cutoff set by various participating colleges and the category-wise reservation norms.
