Q1. Tell us something about yourself.
The interviewer asking this question aims to know what is the most important thing to you and whether you will be fit for admission to an NID or not. If you wish to answer this question decently, then a good answer can be to explain all that you did in your school and college, your extracurricular activities, achievements and more.
However, you must take care not to exaggerate your achievements because an overconfident outlook could create a bad impression. Moreover, give the interviewers an insight into the skills or hobbies you hold. Just make sure that you remain honest while answering this question.
Q2. Where are you from and what is this place famous for?
When the interviewer asks this question, they do not wish to know about the geographical details of your hometown, rather they wish to know how you perceive your surroundings and whether you have put thought into answering this question. Make sure that you include details like your hometown’s special food delicacies, dance forms, arts and crafts, culture, handlooms and much more.
Q3. What do your parents do and where do you live?
The interviewers are only interested in the way you speak and how you express what your parents do for a living. Talk about the jobs they do in detail, let the interviewers know their job responsibilities and more. As for your hometown, talk about your surroundings and what is the best thing about your residential hometown.
Q4. Why do you wish to become a designer?
Answer this question with full honesty. Let the interviewers know why you chose the design industry. In addition to that, you can add how design is a combination of arts and sciences. Explain how the user-friendly and creative nature of this field pulls you towards itself.
Q5. Which is your favourite product and why?
Here, the interviewer is trying to judge your curiosity and observation levels. Please remember that the interviewer is not interested in the cost of your favourite product, rather they are interested in knowing about its design aspects. In addition to its design, talk about the product’s functionality and help the panel to curate a mental image of the product in their minds as well.
Q6. Who is your favourite designer and why?
As a design aspirant, it is quite obvious that you have a basic knowledge of all the best designers across the globe. Out of all of them, you are likely to have one favourite designer as well.
