Padma Awards 2021
The Padma Awards stands as one of the highest renowned civil awards. Every year on Republic day, some of the people who excel in the different area of disciplines are awarded the Padma Awards. The award is conferred in three different categories including the Padma Vibushan, Padma Bhushan and the Padma Shri awards. All of the awards included in the Padma awards is awarded to the people who excel in different areas or disciples including art, public affairs, science & Engineering, Social Work, literature, medicine, trade & industry, education & sports, civil services and others.
Among the awards, the Padma Vibhushan award is presented to the people who have served an excellent and distinguished service, the Padma Bhushan is awarded for the distinguished service of any high order, and the Padma Shri award is given for the exceptional service in any field of activity.
Every year around the month of March-April, the President of India award the nominees at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Nominees List for the Padma Awards 2020
For the year 2020, the president of India has approved a total of 141 awards confer which also include 4 of the duo cases. The duo case in terms of the Padma Award refers to the case where two awards are considered as one.
Among the total list of awards, 7 awards are for the Padma Vibhushan Awards, 16 awards are for the Padma Bhushan awards, and the remaining 118 awards are for the Padma Shri awards. Among the list of nominees, 34 of them are women, over 18 of the nominees belong to the foreigners/NRI/OCI/POI, along with 12 posthumous awardees.

The list of nominees also includes the name of the Langar Baba, Jagdish Ahuja, who has been awarded for organising langars to provide free food to over 500 poor patients for over 2 decades. Apart from food, the langar baba also helps the poor patients with other free financial facilities including blankets and clothes. Jagdish Ahuja sold all of his properties worth crores to help poor, despite suffering from the stomach cancer himself.
Apart from this, the list also consists of Javed Ahmed Tak as one of the nominees. Javed has been working for 2 decades for the specially-abled children to help them make their lives streamlined. Javed is himself confined to a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury caused by a bullet which hit him during a militant attack in the year 1997.

Apart from this, the other unsung heroes of India who will be awarded the Padma Awards this year include Tulasi Gowda AKA Encyclopedia of Forest and Mohammad Sharif, AKA Chacha Sharif. Mohammad Sharif has been performing the last rites for over thousands of unclaimed body in and around Faizabad. He is known to perform the rites of the body according to the religious preference of the deceived. On the other hand, Tulasi Gowda is known to possess a wide knowledge of plants and herbs, without any formal education. She is 72 years of age and has planted thousands of trees since past 60 years.
