For the college going girls, Public Transports are a great way to save money and reaching the place in no time until and unless, the roads are not struck with traffic jams. But while commuting in a public transport, there is always a risk of thievery and eve-teasing for girls.

In India, it is difficult to find a girl who is not eve-teased and molested in a public transport especially in Delhi and Mumbai like cities which are crowded and horny.

Here are some tips to be safe-

Never travel in non-permitted vehicles Apart from Roadways, local trains, and DTC, there are many vehicles available which are not permitted by the local authority. They are running on their own will and hardly follows the rule. They allow unlimited passengers in their vehicles. Cabs, private cars are few example. Try avoiding them as much as possible.

Try to take a note of the number Whenever you choose a public transport, try to note down the number. This trick will help you if you lost or forget something in the vehicle. Also when you want to register a complaint and track the route.

Stay awake and alert Sometimes we sleep while traveling but this can be dangerous. Co-passengers can take advantage of this. The recent case when a girl was raped by a cab driver because she slept emphasized the need to be awake!

Keep close control over your bags and packages Bunch your bags between your feet or close on the seat beside you when you’re sitting, and keep hold of them when you’re standing. It is important to avoid any kind of thievery.

Open GPS when unaware of route The multimedia and apps in today’s phones is a boon in many cases. If you are not aware of the route and probably feeling insecure due to darkness and empty roads, open GPS system to track the route. This step will protect you as you never know that the driver have malicious agenda or not! Avoid too crowded transports When people are pressing in all around you, it’s harder for you to watch and protect your belongings.

Crowds are not a traveler’s friend – in fact, they can make it far easier for pickpockets and thieves to do their dirty work and escape quickly. If things are getting too crowded, get off the bus at the next well-lit stop and wait for a less crowded one.

Should know emergency numbers For sure, you are aware of 100. The number will directly connect you to the Police. But for your own protections, carry pepper spray or a sharp equipment to save yourself in hard times. Our safety is our responsibility and mishappenings can stay away if we keep few tips in mind.

So, Be safe and enjoy traveling!
