Singhania University (SU) is located in Jhunjhunu Rajasthan with a beautiful, lush green campus spread across an area of 30 acres.  The university was established in the year 2007 and is approved by UGC and AICTE. There are a total of 11 colleges affiliated with Sighania University. These colleges are situated in different states of India such as New Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, etc. The university also has some notable collaborations with domestic and international institutions including LCU, Kampala University, BGLC, and others. 

The institution offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes across multiple disciplines including Engineering, Management, Arts, Science, and Commerce. SU offers a total of 48 degrees and 646 courses. The fee structure of the university can be considered nominal and the fee range for most of the courses is around INR 20,000 to INR 35,000 per year.  The university gives importance not only to studies but also to extracurricular activities. A notable alumni of Singhania University, Neha Chougule has won the gold medal in a wrestling contest held under the Khelo India University Games at Ramesh Shrinivas Student Activity Centre of IIT (BHU) Hence, it is evident that the University understands the importance of extracurricular activities and encourages students for the same.

While the lack of historical NIRF data for Singhania University makes it difficult to definitively assess its progress over time, being ranked among the top 100 universities in India is certainly a noteworthy achievement. This indicates that the university is recognised for its overall quality and performance across various dimensions, including teaching, learning, research, and infrastructure. Also, we believe it has a scope to improve its ranking by upgrading its facilities provided and industry linkages in the upcoming years.

Singhania University Academia & Batch Size

Singhania University follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) to enhance the learning experience of the students. Under CBCS system, students have the opportunity to choose their own electives. SU Academia includes a mix of modes of learning, like online, classroom, self-studies, and tutorials. Students are free to choose any mode of learning. As per the CBCS system, students must have at least 75% attendance for the theory and practical classes in order to be eligible for the final exam.

The implementation of the choice-based credit system by Singhania University signifies its shift towards a more flexible and student-centric approach to education. The emphasis on maintaining at least 75% attendance for theory and practical classes underscores the importance of active participation and consistent engagement in the learning process. Regular attendance ensures that students can fully grasp the concepts, complete assignments, and benefit from interactions with peers and instructors. However, this can come as a disappointment for some students who rely on self-studies more than classroom teaching.

Singhania University Infrastructure 

Singhania University claims to provide the best and most modern infrastructure to enhance the learning experience of the students. Let’s glance at what facilities are offered by Singhania University for its students:

Classroom

Singhania University claims to have well-furnished and air-conditioned classrooms. However, as per the reviews of students, only the reconstructed main building is said to have installed central AC. Other than that, classrooms are spacious and properly maintained. Each classroom has a seating capacity of around 80 students. Digital classrooms are available in almost all blocks as per students’ reviews. The entire campus of the university is Wi-Fi enabled which can be accessed by students 24x7. 

Internet connection

The internet connection at SU is pretty good and is available for both students and faculty at high speed. However, the newly admitted candidates must wait for a limited period of time to get access. Otherwise, students are satisfied with the internet connection.

Library

The university has a decent library. The university has also a digital library from which students can access e-resources like e-books, audiobooks, video lectures, thesis, and articles through the candidate’s login.

Activities

SU regularly conducts sports feasts and annual day celebrations, which are colorful, and extravaganza events. Apart from that, small-scale departmental activities take place every now and then.

Hostel

SU has separate hostels for both girls and boys. If the rooms are spacious enough for the accommodated students is yet to be known as there is no detailed info available on the official website. However, one of the former students shared that SU provides good food and the menu varies from day to day. It is reported that the hostel serves South Indian, North Indian, and Continental food items. The food offered is of high quality.  The warden said to be friendly and supportive to the students.  

Playgrounds

SU gives equivalent importance to studies and sports. The campus has cricket, and football grounds along with a volleyball court and indoor stadium.

Labs

Labs are well equipped with modern machinery.  For all the required courses, separate labs are available to enhance their practical knowledge of the subjects.

Canteen

The university has a good cafeteria that provides tasty snack items. The prices of those items are economical. Students chill out when there is no class. As per the feedback given by students, the canteen is hygienic and good.

Singhania University's facilities indicate that the university offers a range of amenities to support students' academic and extracurricular pursuits. This also signifies that Singhania University provides a variety of facilities to its students, including well-furnished classrooms, air conditioning in the reconstructed main building, spacious classrooms, digital classrooms, Wi-Fi access, a decent library with e-resources, sports feasts, and annual day celebrations, separate hostels for girls and boys with good food, playgrounds for cricket, football, volleyball, and an indoor stadium, well-equipped labs, and a hygienic canteen. This suggests that Singhania University is committed to providing its students with a supportive and enriching learning environment. While some facilities, such as the only one building with AC and hostel rooms could be improved. Overall, the university seems to provide a decent infrastructure for students to learn and engage in various activities.

Singhania University Diversity Representation

Singhania University claims to have students from across India.  However, according to the report, around 98% of the students are from within the state. The institution does not have a diverse community of students.

Singhania University has 98% student strength from the state which shows there might be a preference towards students of Rajasthan domicile for admission. There is scope for inviting students from other states of India to improve the diversity and representation of the university.  Also, even though the institution has a collaboration with international institutions like Learners University College (LUC) Dubai, Kampala University, Uganda, and Bangladesh Global Learning Center, Bangladesh, there is no confirmed information on how many students utilise this opportunity.

Singhania University Internships and Placements

Singhania University does not release placement statistics on its official website. However, as per the review shared by students, the highest package offered through SU placements last year was INR 9 LPA. Meanwhile, the median package offered was INR 6 LPA. Some of the top recruiters who visited SU for placements include HCL, Wipro, Taj Group, etc.

Despite the positive aspects, the lack of comprehensive placement data on the university's website leaves room for improvement. To enhance its transparency and attract prospective students, Singhania University should consider publishing detailed placement reports that include the number of students placed, the average salary packages offered, and the placement rates across different disciplines. This information would provide a clearer picture of the university's placement success and allow potential applicants to make informed decisions about their choices.

Singhania University Location

Singhania University is located in Pacheri Bari Jhunjhunu Rajasthan.  The varsity is situated 160 km away from west of Delhi and 165 km north of Jaipur. One can reach the destination either by road or rail. The closest railway station is Narnaul (19 km from campus). Since the University is away from the city, candidates must be careful while moving in and out, in the evening.

Singhania University: Expectation vs Reality CLD Verdict

Singhania University being a private university tries to stand out among the state universities of Rajasthan by offering 48 Degrees and 646 Courses.  The institution is successful in catering to the higher education needs of the home state. Even though the university has a very good reputation, some students perhaps find the curriculum to be tough. The aspect that students find difficult is attendance criteria. According to the university norms, every student must have 75% of attendance in order to appear for the semester-end exams. 

Although the university offers a wide range of courses, some of the students feel that they do not have enough teaching fraternity or if they have, no experience. Faculty is not the only thing which needs to be improved for Singhania University, but also the location. The university is located in a rural area with limited public transportation options, which can make it difficult for students to get to and from campus. Students may need to rely on private transportation, such as cars or taxis, which can be expensive.
