The Staff Selection Commission conducts SSC JE Exam 2023 for the recruitment of Junior Engineers for various departments like Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical. SSC JE Pay Scale 2023

SSC JE Benefits and Allowances

1. HRA (House Rent Allowance)- HRA varies with the city/town the employee resides in. Generally, it’s higher in X and Y cities compared to Z cities. The Rate of the HRA is Rs 5,400, Rs 3,600 and Rs 1,800 in X, Y and Z cities respectively.
2. Categories of Cities/Towns Rate of House Rent Allowances- The engineers are paid a house rent allowance along with the basic pay.

3. Dearness Allowance- The Dearness Allowance is the cost of living adjustment allowance which is currently 28% of the basic pay as per the 7th Pay Commission. When the dearness allowance (DA) crosses 25%, the rates of the HRA generally gets revised to 27%, 18% and 9% for X, Y and Z cities. This is furthermore revised to 30%, 20% and 10% when the DA crosses 50%.
4. Travel Allowance- The travel allowance is provided depending on the distance the employee travels every day from home to the workplace. The travel allowance will increase if the employee is required to do more fieldwork.
5. Medical Allowance- The railway employees are provided with a fixed medical allowance so that they can serve their day to day medical expenses. In case of a severe medical emergency, the Government has to bear the medical expenses for them.
6. Other Special Allowances- Other allowances in SSC JE are additionally eligible for other special allowances like for recreational activities, leaves etc.

SSC JE Promotion Scale 2023
