The TNPSC official website has released the link for applying for TNPSC Group 1 Examination. The preliminary exam for TNPSC Group 1 is scheduled to be conducted on April 5, 2020. The dates for the mains exam will be released after the preliminary exam is over. Students are advised to stay updated with the page as we will update the date as soon as it gets released officially.

Candidates can fill the application form for TNPSC Group 1 exam 2020 till 19th February. Before filling the application form, students must be well aware of the eligibility criteria for the exam. This article will cover the detailed eligibility criteria along with the concessions for the candidates for TNPSC Group 1 Examination 2020.

Eligibility Criteria & Concessions for TNPSC Group 1 Examination 2020

Age Limit

The age limit for TNPSC Group 1 Exam 2020 is given in the table below:

Concession Over Age Limit

  • For a differently-abled person, there is a concession of 10 years above the maximum age limit.

  • For ex-servicemen candidates, the maximum age limit is 53 for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved category candidates and 48 years for general and other castes.

Education Qualification

The candidate who wants to apply for TNPSC Group 1 exam 2020 must possess a degree from any deemed university or another institute under the UGC Act to get eligible. Meanwhile, the preference will be given for the candidate who possesses the given below educational qualification over others:

1st preference: Degree in Law + Commerce with a diploma degree in taxation laws.

2nd preference: Degree in Law + Commerce

3rd preference: Degree in either Law or Commerce with a diploma degree in taxation laws.

4th preference: Degree in either Law or Commerce

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category I)

Candidates possessing the National awards for Physical efficiency

Rural Development Department Assistant Director

  • Diploma or a PG degree in extension

  • A PG degree in Rural Service from Gandhigram Rural Institute of Madurai District

  • Diploma or a PG degree in Sociology

Important Points:

  • The candidates who are in the qualifying year of their degree can also apply for the exam. However, the need to issue a document proof from their concerned university authority that they are applying for the qualifying exam.

  • The candidates must submit their qualification evidence document till & before the prescribed date, failing to which, their application will be rejected by the examination board.

Physical Qualification

The candidates must fulfil the given physical qualification to get eligible for TNPSC Group 1 Examination 2020.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category I)

Height: Men should have a minimum height of 165 cm and the women should have a minimum height of 155 cm.
Chest Measurement: Men should have a minimum of 85 cm round the chest on full inspiration and 5 cm minimum chest expansion. The chest measurement does not apply to women.

District Officer (Fire & Rescue Service)

Height: Men should have a minimum height of 165 cm with a weight of minimum 50 kgs and the women should have a minimum height of 155 cm (no weight requirement for women).
Chest Measurement: Men should have a minimum of 89 cm round the chest on full inspiration, 85 cm with normal and 5 cm minimum for chest expansion. The chest measurement does not apply to women.

The candidates who will be selected for the mains written examination will be required to get a certificate from a doctor/ surgeon appointed to a government hospital, withholding the following information in the certificate:

  • All the candidates for the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Category I) and District Officer (Fire & Rescue Service) who fail to submit the physical certificate on & before the prescribed date, will not be considered for the post.

  • The candidates suffering from a vision defect must produce an eye fitness certificate from an eye surgeon at the time of document submission.
