UGC NET Passing Marks 2023: Category-wise & Subject-wise
UGC NET passing marks 2023 or UGC NET cutoff marks are the minimum marks that candidates need to score in order to clear the exam. To know more about UGC NET 2023 Passing Marks, check the article given below.
UGC NET Passing Marks 2023for the December cycle exam has been prescribed by NTA for different categories and subjects. As per the official notification issued by the UGC, candidates belonging to the general category must score a minimum of 40% marks, while those from the reserved category must score at least 35% in both papers to qualify for UGC NET. Candidates who appeared for the UGC NET 2023 December cycle exam will have to score the UGC NET passing marks to get shortlisted for ‘Assistant Professor” & Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
The cutoff marks for JRF are generally higher than those for the Assistant Professor post. The UGC NET Cutoff 2023 for History for the unreserved category for the December session was 182 for Assistant Professor and 204 percentile for JRF & Assistant Professor. For Commerce, the cutoff was 160 for Assistant Professor and 184 for JRF & Assistant Professor, and for English, it was 182 for Assistant Professor and 208 for JRF & Assistant Professor. NTA conducted the UGC NET 2023 exam for the December cycle from December 6 to 22, 2023, and released the UGC NET December 2023 Result along with the cutoff on January 19, 2024. How to Calculate UGC NET Cutoff 2023 Marks?
Step 1: The number of candidates who will qualify in UGC NET is equal to six per cent of the candidates who appeared in both papers of the exam.
Step 2: According to the Government of India's reservation policy, total slots are allocated to applicants from various categories.
Step 3: Candidates must receive the minimum scores shown below in order to be eligible for the JRF and/or the position of assistant professor.

Step 4: The eligibility criteria for applicants who pass the UGC NET will be based on their subject-wise category. The qualifying cut-off will be determined by the combined percentage that candidates obtained in both papers, according to the number of spots.
Step 5: According to the reservation rules, the total number of slots available for junior research fellow awards are distributed among the various categories.

Is the UGC NET cutoff for assistant professors, JRFs, and assistant professors same?
The cutoff for assistant professors and JRFs is different. The exam for the positions of Assistant Professor and JRF & Assistant Professor is taken together, nevertheless. Their cut-off is the common distinction between these exams. The cutoff for JRF is greater than the cutoff for the exam for Assistant Professors.
