UPSC Geo Scientist Exam 2023: The UPSC Geo-Scientist exam is a competitive examination conducted at the national level. The exam includes three stages comprising the Preliminary, Mains, and Personality test/ Interview. The Preliminary Combined Geo-Scientist Examination was conducted on 19th February 2023 and the Union Public Service Commission declared the result for the same on 03rd March 2023. Candidates who appeared for the Combined GeoScientist (Preliminary) Examination 2023 can check their results online.
After scoring passing marks in the preliminary exam, candidates become eligible for the next round which is the Mains exam. The same is scheduled to be conducted on 24th June and 25th June 2023. UPSC Geo-Scientist Application Fees 2023
Students from various categories have to pay a different fee to apply for the UPDC Geo Scientist Exam:
- General/OBC/EWS Candidates have to pay INR 200. The mode of payment will be online.
- Women candidates or candidates from SC/ST category are exempted from the application fee.
UPSC Geo-Scientist Age Limit 2023
Candidates going to appear for the UPSC Geo-Scientist exam should be a minimum of 21 years of age. The maximum age limit is 32 years. Only a candidate within the age group can apply for the exam. However, candidates from SC/ ST /OBC categories can get relaxation as per the Government rule.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Exam 2023 Eligibility: Educational Qualification
To be able to apply for the UPSC Geo-Scientist exam 2023, candidates must hold the following qualifications:- For Geologists Grade ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India: Master’s degree in Geological Science/ Geo-Exploration/ Geology/ Applied Geology/ Mineral Exploration/ Marine Geology/ Engineering Geology/ Earth Science and Resource Management/ Petroleum Geosciences/ Petroleum Exploration/ Geochemistry/ Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies/ Geological Technology/ Geophysical Technology from a recognized university is required.
- For Geophysicists Grade ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India: Candidates with M.Sc in Physics/ Geophysics/ Applied Geophysics/ Applied Physics/ Marine Geophysics or M.Sc (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or from a university are eligible.
- For Chemists Grade ‘A’ in Geological Survey of India: A degree of M.Sc in Chemistry/ Analytical Chemistry/ Applied Chemistry/ is required by the candidates to be eligible.
- For Junior Hydrgeologists (Scientist B), Group ‘A’ in Central Ground Water Board: Candidates with a master’s degree in Geology/ Marine Geology/ Applied Geology/ Hydrogeology from a recognized university.
UPSC Geo-Scientist Exam 2023 Selection Process
Candidates will have to clear all three stages of the UPSC Geo-Scientist exam 2023. After clearing the third round, candidates can go for training and join the position.

The UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist salary structure is finalized according to the norms of the 7th Pay Commission. There is a record for all posts arranged as per their level and grade. The candidates will get additional allowances according to their positions. The candidates at the senior positions will get additional allowances along with their basic pay.
