JEE Main 2023 January session exam is over and the result will be released soon by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The authorities will release the result in the form of percentile. The percentile scores are not the actual marks of the candidates but the normalized ones. Since the exam will be held in multiple shifts and days, normalization is done to remove any possible parity in difficulty levels. NTA has explained the normalization process used for calculating percentile scores. The raw marks scored by the candidates will be converted into percentile scores by the authorities.

Percentile scores are not the same as raw marks or percentage scores, but rather compare an applicant's performance with all other test takers. Percentile scores are used to determine what percentage of candidates achieved a particular score in JEE Mains. An applicant should understand the normalization process to determine JEE Main marks and percentiles in order to access an estimated rank before the official announcement.
