12 NIT Directors to be Appointed by HRD Ministry
Applications have been invited by MHRD for the post of Director vacant at 12 National Institutes of Technology.
Applications are invited by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in order to appoint for the post of Director vacant at 12 National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Among the NITs for which the hiring process will be conducted are NIT Hamirpur, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Bhopal, Sikkim, Goa, Mizoram, Surathkal, Pondicherry, Srinagar and Uttarakhand.
The HRD ministry has made it mandatory that all applicants should be less than 65 years of age when they apply for the post. Appointment for the post of director for all the above mentioned NITs will be done for a tenure of 5 years or till the candidate turns 70.
In order to be eligible for the post, applicants must qualify the following requirements:
- Ph.D Degree with first division, a master’s degree as well as a bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology.
- Candidates must have at least 15 years of experience either in teaching or industry or in related research. At least 10 out of these 15 years of experience must be in the field of education, i.e. at the level of professor or above in the any of the premier educational institute, research organization or industry.
- For applicants who have pursued Ph.D. directly subsequent to B.E/B.Tech, then he/she must have completed the undergraduate course with first class.

All aspiring candidates must send completely filled application forms with respect to the format prescribed by the ministry. Apart from this, curriculum vitae of the candidates is also required. Both the documents must be sent via registered\speed post to Anil Kumar Singh, Under Secretary (NITs), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Room No.523, C – Wing, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi – 110115.
All applications must reach the designated address within a time span of 30 days from the official notification date accompanied by the vigilance clearance certificate issued by the parent organisation.
Applicants employed in autonomous organizations, government departments, and PSU are required to send their application through proper means along with vigilance clearance. Applications of such candidates can also be sent in advance directly to the address mentioned above.
National Institute of Technology, Andhra Pradesh is the newest out of the 31 NITs that offer 17,390 seats for several undergraduate engineering programmes across the country.
