13 IIMs are Functioning without a Director
Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, mentioned that the Directors of the Mentor IIMs, i.e., Amritsar, Sirmaur, Bodh Gaya, Sambalpur, Nagpur and Visakhapatnam would continue until the appointment of a regular director.
A total number of 13 Indian Institutes of Management in the country have no directors, and the posts are still lying vacant. According to the information given to Lok Sabha, the following IIMs do not have directors: -
- IIM Bangalore
- IIM Nagpur
- IIM Kozhikode
- IIM Amritsar
- IIM Sirmaur
- IIM Rohtak
- IIM Bodh Gaya
- IIM Ranchi
- IIM Raipur
- IIM Udaipur
- IIM Visakhapatnam
- IIM Tiruchirapalli

For the rest of the IIMs, the tenure of the outgoing director has been extended. However, for some IIMs senior most professor of the institute has been given the additional charge.

IIM Udaipur and IIM Kozhikode have already issued the advertisements for the posts and the rest of IIMs; a Search-cum-Selection Committee has recommended a panel of names.
Recently, Kumar Mangalam Birla has been appointed as the new Chairman of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has been appointed for a tenure of three years. Birla also holds the position of Chairman at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
This year, the registration for placement season at most of the IIMs and IITs is going at a snail's pace. On the other hand, Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta has witnessed a marginal dip in the number of recruitments by startups. This year, there is almost 50 percent drop in the number of startup companies sending recruiters to the campus.
