13th Convocation Celebrations of SRM University, 6,150 Graduates Awarded degrees
- SRM university 13th convocation was conducted successfully and 6,150 engineering graduates were awarded degrees.
- Founder of Infosys, Mr. NR Murthy was the chief guest at SRM University 13th Convocation and addressed the attendees.
The 13th convocation ceremony of SRM University was held on a grand note with the esteemed presence of Founder of Infosys, Padma Vibhushan, Mr. NR Murthy. During the convocation ceremony, a total number of 6,150 engineering graduates and 47 doctoral students were awarded degrees. Similarly, more than 50 students bagged gold, silver and bronze medals for their academic achievements.
Addressing the students, Mr. NR Murthy indicated that the current scenario is extraordinary for competition. In the present world, the opportunities are wide and challenges are daunting, he added. Today, the implications of globalisation are readily felt in a world where the boundaries between powerful and meek, rural and urban and rich and poor are being increasingly blurred, Mr. Murthy added.
He also said that various companies, corporations and firms have been facing extreme competition and the pace of innovation is faster in the contemporary world. Therefore, students need to develop their ideas and innovate faster than their competitors, he said.

Adding further, Mr. NR Murthy urged the graduates to concentrate on becoming able managers with significant attributes such as leadership. Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, NR Murthy said that the father of the nation walked the talk and won the confidence, trust and support of every Indian.
Today, the youth of the nation must develop a consolidated value system with a motive to energise people around them, he added. The students must open up to new ideas and learn new ideas. There is a need to learn new paradigms and cultures, and age is not an essential factor for learning. Students must learn to question, said Mr. NR Murthy.
Mr. NR Murthy called the students to embrace teamwork and hard work. A single individual might not possess the skill of every task, therefore, teamwork is highly mandatory for better results. ‘Performance’ is the major criterion in any organisation to achieve greater heights. Performance is nothing but a mix of integrity, honesty, smartness and hard work, he added.

Mr. NR Murthy also urged the students to maintain good communication skills. These skills also play a vital role in the success of every individual, he concluded.
The major highlight of the convocation ceremony was conferment of Honorary Degree D.Sc (Doctorate of Science) on Dr. Sekhar Basu, Chairperson of Atomic Energy Commission (Government of India).
During the convocation ceremony, President of SRM University, Dr. R P Satyanarayanan, delivered the welcome address. He termed NR Murthy as a ‘true inspiration’ and the ‘Father of the Indian IT Sector’. Later, Chancellor of SRM University, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar presided over the convocation.
