14 from Jammu & Kashmir Feature in UPSC Civil Services Merit List
- 14 candidates from Jammu & Kashmir passed civil services examinations.
- Nandini K R topped the merit list.

14 candidates have passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination from Jammu and Kashmir which was conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, 31 years old, from Haripora Unisoo village in North Kashmir’s Langate area, bagged the 10th position. Mohiuddin who is an Indian Forest Service officer is currently posted in Lucknow. He was ranked 15th in Kashmir Administrative Services exam (KAS) in 2012. He got into Indian Forest Service two years later.
Mohiuddin was hopeful but could not believe that he came 10th. He came to know when everybody on the J&K Civil Services WhatsApp group started congratulating him. Mohiuddin cleared it in his fourth attempt. This was his last chance because after that, the cutoff age for appearing for elite services would have crossed.

Last year, 12 candidates passed the examination from the state.
Another candidate whose name appeared in the list is Fakhurudin. He is a dentist from Bemina locality in Srinagar. He cleared it without any coaching. Bisma Qazi, an engineer from Rambagh Srinagar also features in the list.
Nandini K R from Karnataka, an Indian Revenue Service officer, topped the UPSC merit list. Presently, she is undergoing training at the National Academy of Customs, Excise, and Narcotics in Faridabad.

Civil Services preliminary examinations, 2016 were conducted on August 7, 2016. Out of 11,35,943 candidates, 4,59,659 candidates appeared. A total of 15,452 qualified for the mains examinations conducted in December 2016, out of which 2,961 candidates qualified for interview and personality test held in March-May.
