<p>The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) conducted its 28th convocation in Delhi for the students who passed their Master's degree programmes in December 2013 and June 2014 term-end examinations.
The main event was organized at the IGNOU headquarters in New Delhi. The convocation was also held simultaneously at 56 centres across the country.
The function was graced by the former chairman of University Grants Commission, Hari Gautam. Former Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University, D.P. Singh also graced the function as the distinguished guest.
During this convocation 90 gold medals was given to the meritorious students and various awards were given to meritorious candidates viz. Ram Reddy Award, Abdul Kalam Award, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) Award, Mother Teresa Award and Prof. Grover Award.
At this convocation an exhibition was also organized on this occasion highlighting the various achievements of the university.
IGNOU is now running 228 academic programmes, coordinated by 67 Regional Centres over 3000 study centres catering to over 3 million students in India and abroad.
The convocation was telecasted live on Edusat, NIC, YouTube and webcast link on www.ignou.ac.in. Students of Delhi NCR could witnessed the live webcasting of the convocation programme at Maneskshaw Centre.
