With a rising demand of vocational courses at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), the stats show on comparing with the last year records, there is a 31% increase in applications.
Whereas, polytechnic seats in the states remain empty.
With the online admissions of ITI coming to an end on Sunday, the number of students surpassed last year’s 2.82 lakh applications for 1.33 lakh seats available.
Students can confirm their registration till Monday 5 pm.
Chances are this number will further increase once the supplementary Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams results are declared in October, as per an official.
On the contrary, a drop of 20% applications can be seen from last year in polytechnic colleges.
The academicians say that the change in stats of diploma applications is because many engineering students are opting for Class 12 route for admission in degree engineering courses.
