Predict My College

According to a survey conducted by the premier Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, also known as IIT-D, it has been inferred that close to 38 percent candidates who clear the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) give their schools a miss in order to attend dedicated coaching classes to crack the engineering entrance exam. Further, only 3 percent were among those who did not take any tuition or coaching to make it to the top engineering institutes of the country.

Highlights of IIT Delhi Study:

Check the highlights of the survey conducted by IIT Delhi below:

  • 38% students do not enroll for class 11th and 12th to give more time to JEE coaching. They take the help of the 'dummy schools' which are associated with some coaching institutes as well. Students claim that this concept helps them in time management.
  • Only 3% candidates cleared JEE without taking any professional coaching.

It is important to note that this survey was conducted on the 2017 intake students of IIT Delhi by its Student Welfare and Boards of Student Publications departments. The study is although specific to IIT-D, but it is believed that the same trend shall also be applicable to other IITs.
