5 Villages Adopted by IIT-Kanpur under Namami Gange Programme
Five villages have been adopted by the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur under the Namami Gange program.
Five villages have been adopted by the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur under the Namami Gange program. The institute will harness its expertise in order to restrict the sewage that is discarded into the river.
Professor Vinod Tare from the Civil Engineering Department, IIT-Kanpur said that the Civil Department has taken up the responsibility of this task to prevent water pollution.
Khoyra Katree, Ramel Nagar, Pratapur, Katri Ladhva Khera and Hari Hindpur are the five villages that have been adopted by the institute.
Among the 13 educational institutes that have been directed by the central government to take up such initiatives, IIT-Kanpur is also one. These 13 educational institutes will be taking villages under their umbrella and will transform them into role models in sanitation so that other villages will be inspired to follow suit.

It will be the concern of IIT-Kanpur to ensure that sewage water is not discharged into the river. Apart from this, they will also make sure that drinking water is hygienic and proper quality checks are done.
