9 Students of IIM Ahmedabad Trek up to Everest Base Camp

Nine students from IIM Ahmedabad had stepped out to explore the Himalayan terrain during their exam break. These students had participated in the Everest Base Camp Leadership Expedition to trek up to the Everest Base Camp.

The students started their mountain journey from Kathmandu. From there they reached Lukla (2800m) and then up to Gorakshep (5100m) in over 8 days. From Gorakshep they took a brief trip to the Everest Base Camp (5364m) to view the commotion of the upcoming climbing season.

The press release of IIM Ahmedabad also stated that the nine students had also visited Kala Pathar (5530m) to see the magnificent peak of Mt. Everest. Kala Pathar gives a great view of the peak.

Anurag Kataria, one of the students who participated in the trek, recalled the trip and said that despite the tough conditions, it was one of the best experiences of his college life. The 130-kilometre trek has taught us a lot, Anurag added.

All the students who trekked the Himalayan Range are currently in their second year. Apart from Anurag, Ankit Sinha, Siddharth Biswas, Nikhil Menon, Aravindh, Pallavi Awasthi, Suresh Anand, Preet Deep Singh and Neha Manglik from IIM Ahmedabad participate in the trek. Suresh Anand is the IIM-A Coordinator of the trek.

Prateek Mohan, Student at XLRI, organises a series of the treks that includes the trek done by IIM Ahmedabad students. Prateek is a resident of Ahmedabad and organises these events over a period of 3 months. Prateek has inspired more than 200 students of the major b-schools in India to participate in this trek.
