A 14-Year-old Sanskrit School Boy Wins International Maths Competition
14-year-old student Ahmedabad- from based Hemchandracharya Sanskrit Pathshala brought laurels to his ‘gurukul’ by winning an international mathematics competition recently held in Indonesia.
Ahmedabad-based Hemchandracharya Sanskrit Pathshala has got the reasons to celebrate, as it's a 14-year-old student brought laurels to this ‘gurukul’ by winning an international mathematics competition recently held in Indonesia.
Tushar Talawat won the ‘International Mathematics Competition held amongst 1,300 students from 18 countries. The event was organised by Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic (ALOHA) International on 24th July 2016 in Indonesia’s Yogyakarta.

The achievement of Tushar Talawat has not only made the country proud but also caught attention towards the Gurukul education system in the country. With his feat the ancient Vedic mathematics has again emerged at world-level said the joint organising secretary of RSS-affiliated Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM).
In a press conference, Tushar demonstrated the speed at which he can do arithmetic calculations where BJP MP Manoj Tiwari was also present.
In October last year, he solved 70 questions in 3 minutes and 30 seconds while defeating 5,300 competitors during the Gujarat leg of the competition said a press release by BSM.

Again in December last year in Chennai, he defeated 4,300 students while solving 70 questions relating to subtraction, addition and multiplication of six digits in 3 minutes and 10 seconds.
He has just finished his one-and-half years of his 10-year course at the Gurukul. The Gurukul does offer certificates right now. However, students at Gurukul can appear for academic exams through National Institute of Open Schooling, said an official of the Gurukul. The Sanskrit Pathshala has excellent student teachers ratio.

Right now there are 90 students against 150 teachers. This prodigious student has also met HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar. The HRD minister in return later tweeted appreciating achievements of Tushar.
