Aadhar Mandatory for the Students getting Fellowships from Central Universities
If the student links his bank account number to Aadhar there won't be any problem in applying for scholarships
The UGC has directed all the central universities that the names of the research scholars who are getting fellowships must be linked with Aadhar numbers. This directive has been made to avoid duplication and the real beneficiaries will get the benefits of government scholarships.
According to the official of UGC, the Aadhar numbers have been linked to scholarships this year. It is mandatory for the research scholars to provide Aadhar number to acquire scholarships. The candidates will disburse all the beneficiaries to their bank accounts through direct transfer. The UGC has directed the universities to send the details of bank accounts and others to see that the candidate gets scholarship on time.
If the student links his bank account number to Aadhar there won't be any problem in applying for scholarships. They would be a delay in processing scholarships if students fail to provide Aadhar number in time.
The students who even did not have Aadhar numbers are feeling nervous as the processing of scholarships take more time. Last year, the supreme court issued orders stating that Aadhar is mandatory to acquire various benefits of schemes of the government.
