Hakuna Matata' — no worries for the rest of your days — is this year's theme of Aarohi, the annual cultural festival of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), organized in association with Times of India. It is one of the largest cultural extravaganzas of Central India, being organised by the students.
Come November, over 200 students from different branches and semesters start brainstorming for the youth festival whose inception goes back to 1988. Right from hunting sponsors for the mega-budget event, getting popular celebrities and bands to organizing various events and competitions for the weeklong fest — everything is taken care of by the students.
Aarohi hosted a wide spectrum of cultural events in which more than 35 teams from all over the country participated. Competitions ranging from dance, song, rock-band, personality contests, theatre, debates, street plays and other group activities were part of the fest. The curtain-raiser was held last week which had the performance by classical vocalist Mahesh Kale.
Aarohi is also introducing a sports and entertainment event, NBA-JAM initiated by the National Basketball Association, USA. Aimed at reaching out to the youngsters of different countries,
EDM Night hosted by the DJ-Zaeden. Well-known stand-up comedian Kenny Sebastian performed at the event. The main attraction of the event was pop band 'Euphoria's live in Concert
