Accident Survivor Shines in CAT 2016 Result despite Physical Discomfort
22-year-old Simarpreet Singh has proved that physical discomfort and disabilities cannot stop a determined individual from achieving his goal.
22-year-old Simarpreet Singh has proved that physical discomfort and disabilities cannot stop a determined individual from achieving his goal. He aced the CAT 2016 exam and secured 99.97 percentile. Simarpreet was paralyzed below the waist after an accident in August 2015.
He is currently working with a private company in Gurugram. Simarpreet has done his schooling from St. John’s High School, Chandigarh and Doon School, Dehradun. He went on to pursue his engineering degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani.

According to Simarpreet’s percentile, he has is amongst the top .04% CAT performers out of the 1.8 lakh candidates who appeared for the test.
Proud of his son’s achievement, Simarpreet’s father Pushpinder Singh said that his son’s spinal cord was damaged in an accident in 2015 leaving him paralyzed below the waist but he didn’t lose hope. He also added that Simarpreet had performed very well without coaching and extra help.
Simarpreet wishes to study at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has already received calls from the IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore.

CAT 2016 result was announced on Monday, January 9, 2017. According to the reports, engineers dominate the list of top performers. 20 of the candidates who appeared for CAT have scored 100 percentile. Reportedly, there are very few girls among the top scorers. 19 IIMs along with other top b-schools will be calling candidates for interviews on the basis of their CAT 2016 score.
