Actor Pankaj Kapur becomes a storyteller in IIT Delhi

Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur performed at IIT Delhi when a house full of theatre aficionados waited patiently for the show to begin.

The actor became a storyteller and narrated 'Dopehri', a novella written by the National School of Drama alumnus himself. The play, produced by his wife Supriya Pathak, was staged as part of a cultural evening organised by the IIT Delhi Alumni Association.

For almost two hours, Pankaj Kapur captivated the audience, reading out from the pages he held in his hand and bringing alive the characters from his story. He modulated his voice to differentiate between the characters.

"I had no trouble in visualizing the scenes. We all have seen him play different characters on TV and films, but to see him performing live before us was an extraordinary experience. We could connect easily with the characters," said a parents of a student.

"I loved his story telling . He is known for his realistic acting. I am a fan of his work and I made sure I take out time to attend the play," said Basha Sharma a student.

"Mandi House is the place for theatre. Here, we had a seminar hall with a large space so that more people can be accommodated. The acoustics and lights don't have the details of an auditorium and so, performing here becomes a different experience, but at the same time, the audience was fantastic. Because they are highly-educated people, they reacted beautifully, just as I had expected. Moreover, Delhi audience is well-exposed to theatre and I have always received a lot of love here." he said.

The actor also expressed his happiness about to become a grandfather and said, "We are all very excited and looking forward to the arrival of the new member."
