Admission Notice- Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Announces Admission to Ph.D Programs 2016

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune is inviting applications for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program offered in Biology, Ecology & Evolution, Chemistry, Earth & Climate Sciences, Mathematics and Physics for the session August 2016.

Eligibility Criteria:

For Ph.D in Biology Program: Candidates should have minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6 out of 10 point scale (55% or equivalent CGPA in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in master’s degree in any branch of Science–Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biological Sciences/ Ecology & Environmental Sciences/ Biodiversity/ Psychology or equivalent. B.E/ B.Tech/ M.Tech or MBBS degree holders may also apply.

For Ph.D in Chemistry Program: Candidates should have minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6 out of 10 point scale (55% or equivalent CGPA in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in master’s degree in any branch of Science: Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biology or equivalent. Candidates with B.E/B.Tech/B.Pharm/M.E/M.Tech/M.Pharm degree satisfying the above criteria of marks can also apply.

For Ph.D in Physics Program: Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6 out of 10 point scale (55% or equivalent CGPA in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in any master’s degree or a four-year bachelor’s degree can apply.

Selection Procedure for IISER, Pune:

Candidate must have qualified any one of the following exams:

For Ph.D. in Mathematics Program: NBHM 2015, NBHM 2016, qualified (NET with valid CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF in Mathematics, CSIR/UGC NET-LS in Mathematics (Date of passing should be in December 2014 and onwards) or a valid GATE score with all India rank up to 50 in Mathematics.

For Ph.D. in Chemistry Program: Qualified NET with valid CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF, CSIR/UGC NET-LS (Date of passing should be in The year 2015/ 2016), INSPIRE-Ph.D. fellowship or JEST or GATE.

For Ph.D. in Physics Program: Qualified NET with valid CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF, CSIR/UGC NET-LS qualified within last 2 years and with rank less than or equal to 500, JEST or GATE qualified with rank less than or equal to 500 or INSPIRE-PhD fellowship holders
