Admission Notice- Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics Invites Applications for PhD

Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP), Kolkata is inviting applications for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme in Experimental Physics and Biophysical sciences. The programme would commence in March 2016. A pre PhD course more popularly known as post MSc programme is also included in the programme.

The Eligibility criteria

Only the candidates with NET-JRF (not lectureship) qualification are eligible for the PhD programme.

A master’s degree in Physics is a must for PhD in Experimental Physics

A master’s degree in Physics or Chemistry with Life Sciences at 10+2 Level or Master’s in Life sciences with Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level is a must for PhD in biophysical sciences.

The Application Procedure

The candidates can apply for the programmes online.

Selection Procedure

Screening based on the past academic records (HS or equivalent, BSc and MSc) and NET rank would be done.

The final selection would be done after a personal interview of the shortlisted candidates at SINP in the month of Feb 2016.

Fellowships Available

The amount of fellowship, HRA, contingency grant etc. would be according to the rules of CSIR/UGC/DBT/ICMR (SINP will not be responsible for these funds if the candidate is selected under any such schemes).

Limited hostel facility available.
