University of Calcutta (CU), Kolkata invites applications for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program in Zoology in the department of Zoology, Ph.D in Science in the department of Electronic Science, Ph.D in Comerce in the department of Commerce and Ph.D in Information Technology at A. K Choudhury School of Information Technology for the session 2016.

Eligibility Criteria-

For Ph.D in Information Technology Program: Candidates should have M.Tech or M.E in IT/CSE/CS/Electronics or equivalent, M.Sc in Computer and Information Science/ CS/ Physics/ Applied Physics/ Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/ Bio Informatics/ Biophysics and Molecular Biology or MCA or B.Tech/ B.E in IT/ CSE/ CS/ Electronics or equivalent as per the University regulation.

How to Apply for-

Ph.D in Zoology Program: Application forms can be downloaded from the C.U. website and filled in forms are to be submitted at the office of the Dept. of Zoology after payment of Rs.100/- only at the C.U. cash counter. The form and challan needs to be signed by the Head, Dept. of Zoology.

Ph.D in Commerce Program: The application form, duly filled in, is to be submitted to the Head, Department of Commerce, University of Calcutta, after payment of Rs. 100/- only in cash to be deposited in the Calcutta University cash counter by challan.

Candidates who wish to pursue for Ph.D in Information Technology should apply in the prescribed proforma by paying Rs. 100/- through a challan available through different University cash counters. The proforma for application is available in the university website. The challan is to be duly forwarded through the Coordinator, A. K Choudhury School of Information Technology.

Selection Procedure-

Candidates will be selected for Ph.D in Zology program on the basis of their perfoirmance in the entrance test conducted by the university. Candidates who have qualified M. Phil. /NET/GATE in any branch of Life Sciences are exempted from the written examination and will need to appear at the interview only.

University will conduct entrance examination for Ph.D in Commerce for non-NET/SET/SLET/M.Phil/M.Tech candidates only.

For Ph.D in Science Program: Candidates who have already cleared UGC-CSIR (JRF) NET/GATE/SET teacher fellowship or passed the M.Phil/M.Tech/equivalent examination are exempted from appearing for the written test but have to appear at the interview.

For Ph.D in Information Technology Program:

Candidates who have already passed UGC/ CSIR(JRF) examinations NET/ SET/ SLET/ GATE/ Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations or passed the M.Tech/M.E degree in Information Technology or equivalent examination need not appear at the written examination and can directly appear at the interview.

The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written MCQ examination of 1 hour duration followed by interview to be held in the department.
